I'd need to see the actual text before coming to any conclusions, but I think this might shed some light on his t-shirt tastes.

He can be seen wearing the shirt in the Episode 2 web docs in Tunesia.

Is it this text on the shirt: "a film with comic-book characters, an unbelievable story, no political or social commentary, lousy acting, preposterous dialogue, and a ridiculously simplistic morality. In other words, a bad movie." ?

(see here and here)

Han: Hey Lando! You kept your promise, right? Not a scratch?
Lando: Well, what’s left of her isn’t scratched. All the scratched parts got knocked off along the way.
Han (exasperated): Knocked off?!

How does that make him removed from reality? He clearly wanted Greedo to shoot first in the SEs, they are his films and he knows what he wants from them. He doesn't simply change his films to meet the fans desires, but as he has stated, they are his films and his vision to make how he wants.
.

Whenever I hear fans who defend Lucas on the changes because it is something he couldn't do when making the OT, and this is the way he wants them now, I give one example:

1980 ESB/OOT: Luke DOES NOT scream after jumping from Cloud City after the Vader revelation

1997 ESB/SE: Luke DOES scream after jumping from Cloud City after the Vader revelation.

2004 ESB/DVD: Luke DOES NOT scream after jumping from Cloud City after the Vader revelation.

It is not called getting his vision across that he couldn't from 77-83, it is called tampering at this point, cause he seems to be going back and forth on this one!

i serious think he has ocd with all the changes he has made to the films, he will never be happy with them.

There is no hope for Lucas at any time in the present or future; Im thinking he released the GOUT just to sabotauge the 30th anniversary boxset, which was the true hope for fans. He'll easily release a 4th DVD of the SE in 2009

Oh the ol' "My Money My Film" line! Well played!

It doesn't make it our film, but I think you're missing what people are saying; without the money from the fans, Star Wars wouldn't be a franchise of anything else; it'd be one film rotting on a shelf somewhere. So, in a sense, the fans are the funding for almost all of the releases since 77. So if it hadn't been for OUR money, Lucas would be ABLE to alter "HIS" film. Does that make it our film? Hell no. I think the fans have a legitimate complaint though. Think of it this way: what if Michael Curtiz were still alive and said that a colorized Casablanca with with CG additions was his only vision, and refused to release the original version. The original version does not "belong" to the millions of filmgoes who've seen Casablanca over the years, but I think that they would be within their rights to want it to get a release that it deserved. There's a very, very simple solution here: give the OOT a high-quality release. That's it. That would solve ALL of the problems. ALL of them. I'd watch the version I want in anamorphic HD (as long as other formats got the release down the road), and Lucas could to whatever the hell else he wanted and everyone would be happy. But he won't. All that people want is a high-quality release of the OOT. That doesn't make it our film. That doesn't mean that anyone is denying George "his" vision. We just want to watch the original versions in a release that meets the standards of the formats today. That's all. THAT is why the this is all still going on. It's not OUR film. I have never claimed it to be. But with a simple release of the original version in high quality, the whole problem could be solved. Why is that so hard to understand?

Well obviously that one example is simply tampering, as he clearly could have done that in his oriignal cut. But that doesn't mean that his other edits aren't things that he had already wanted to do before and couldn't do (e.g. Jabba's scene in ANH)

Boba Fett was digitally inserted into that scene as he was not part of the original shoot, having been developed by Joe Johnston in 1978; he was filmed in 1996 and played by an ILM employee IIRC. And yes, he was put there for fan-related reasons.

Well I didn't know that he was only inserted in the 90s, I was under the impression that he was already in the shot. That still doesn't mean that he changed the films "just for the fans" as he had always planed to return to them and modify them, and a piece of evidence for that is t he fact that he shot the Jabba scene with the intention of returning to it much later to complete it.

I'm not trying to say that you should like the SEs of course, and I agree that there should be good quality versions of the OOT that are digitally remastered. I'm just saying that I don't see why people complain about most of the changes in the SEs so much and attack GL for it. You can like the SEs and still want the OOT digitally remastered.

Well GL created the films, and they are his piece of art and his conception. Yes they were made successful from the fans buying tickets, dvds and merch but that doesn't make the films any less his.

I never said it didn't make the film "his" (Why don't we ask Richard Marquand, Kershner, Kurtz, and the thousands of talented artists and craftsman whose work "no longer exists" what they think of that). But I think with the OOT properly restored, the problem could be solved. I really don't care how he changes things, but I want the OOT remastered and so do many others. Releasing it could make the entire point of this moot. It's really very, very simple.

Lucas says specifically in the ROTJ Commentary on the 2004 DVD, "If I knew that Boba Fett was going to be so popular, I would have given him a cooler death scene." Lucas ADMITS that if he knew the fans love of Boba Fett after all these years, he would have done things differently, hence why he appears, or Jango Fett too appears in AOTC......for the fans, just like Chewbacca in ROTS.

As for complaining about the SE changes, if Lucas would have just made cosmetic changes like the new Jawa Sandcrawler, ObiWans Hutt, The X-Wing Fighters leaving Yavin, etc, I think you would have a small minority that HATE the SE. It is the Greedo shooting first, the exclusion of "Bring my shuttle", Jedi Rocks new song in ROTJ, and of course taking out Sebastian Shaw in the ghost scene in ROTJ, That's the stuff that pisses me off, and led me to hate EVERYTHING about the SE. So in a sense, the more Lucas tried to tie the Saga's together visually in the SE, the more he turned me off as a saga fan. That is pure irony.

The flick is GL's..... sure alot of people made fantastic contributions, but they knew going in that GL has the final call. They especially knew that working on Empire on through the PT. Sure his call's aren't always good ones, but it's his flick... now go zoom in on your non anamorphic OOT discs.

Yes, as I've said in over 1,000 posts, I agree that he owns the rights. But...where's the anamorphic OOT? Oh, that's right, there isn't one. That's the whole crux of the problem. If there was, we wouldn't need to be having this discussion. If there was, everybody would be happy and we wouldn't have this problem. There's not. We do. And until the problem is solved, there will be controversy and criticism. The movie's his. I'm well aware of that. But that doesn't mean that no one else is allowed to criticise and that they have to like it. He created this problem for himself. He can fix it. And I don't own the non-amamorphic OOT discs. I said that I wouldn't but them and I didn't. And with the exception of Indy IV, I'm done. Until I see the restored OOT Lucas isn't getting a penny for any Star Wars action figures, DVDs, HD releases, magazines, toys, Direct Downloads, home video releases, theatrical releases, graphic novels, CDs, music releases, video games, novels, comic-books, T.V. shows, or anything else.

Guys, he is a troll with a statement like that, please don't respond, and he will eventually go away......

Well, this boring ol' debate aside. Klokwerk, have you gotten anything more from your employer on the supposed box-set? We have official internet buzz for the other announcements he spoke of. I would be more skeptical if it were just something he brought up in passing, but with detail like the number of discs, and this number being contradictory mathematically to a simple repackaging (which would be 13). Have you managed to talk to him again?

No, he's not. Those are the opinions which he holds; if you read some of his other posts, you will know this.
