2006 PAL DVDs to anamorphic - correct dimensions

Hello, I am currently trying to "upsize" the 2006 "bonus" DVDs (PAL) to anamorphic proportions. Does anybody know the correct cropping parametres ? I've tried the ones written in ADM's thread (0, 38, 720, 404) but they are of course bullsh*t. I have tried several other numbers, and to me the combination Crop(0, 80, 720, 416) looks correct, but a quick comparition to the "main" DVD shows that it is not.

ADM's parameters are no bullshit but probably for NTSC res.

I think most PAL 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen movies have a picture resolution of 720 x 432. But a differs a bit (430-440) and it's not alsways 2.35:1 but sometimes 2.40:1.
In avisynth you can crop and resize Star Wars like this:
crop(0,124,0,-126)
Lanczos4resize(720,432)
addborders(0,72,0,72)

(Since the non-anamorphic video res is about 720 x 326 resizing to 720 x 434 may be more accurate (borders should be 71))

Edit: if you want to use a sharpening filter use it before you add the borders to avoid this weird white line around the edges of the image. also if you change the contrast or anythin do it before you add borders.

ADM's parametres are good ONLY for NTSC, they're wrong for PAL.
Your's are great, and SW has to be 720x432, NOT 434.

Thanks ! You saved me a lot of time.

BTW any tips for a good "garbage remover" ?

Do you mean scratches/dust or noise/grain?

The problem is I don't know how you/they call it in english.
Depending on the quality of your monitor, you will maybe see what I'm talking about from these comparision screenshots.

That's what I would call noise/grain.
I don't know a good way to remove it without introducing other problems.
