It was must be psychosomatic more than anything then boon23, since on viewing it *seemed* that WotW was better looking - just goes to show you can't trust everyhting your eyes tell you

thank you, meedermow, for your comment. It is funny you mention our War of the worlds edit as an example for better quality. Of course the disc size is 4.3 gigs there, BUT especially this edit was the one where we were not satisfied with the picture quality (somewhere above I explained what happened). For VIOLETS we used the same bitrate setting as for WOTW TEC with the difference we stayed with MPEG files this time, instead of recoding to uncompressed avi first (which always gave us an interlacing problem). Since there is much less movement in VIOLETS (the movie could be considered as rather calm), the size needed for the 97 minutes is much smaller, still the quality does not differ much from the original DVD (and this was an even worse DVD quality than War of the worlds, crispy picture, obviously taken from VHS master), we used more contrast and added some colour to get rid of the noisy and pale picture. What makes WOTW TEX so big is the extras actually, we had far more deleted scenes and the broadcast slideshow. So, although I do understand everyone (and you are by far not the first, meedermow) to ask for using the full capacity of a DVD, just because it sounds better, the quality would not differ much (believe me, we tried that), so we stick to small sizes for upload reasons. Hopefully you can still enjoy the outcome. AND if ever someone feels like creating an HQ version of one of our edits, feel absolutely free to do so, I would really love to see a dual-layer version of deZIONized for example.

Hi, newbie question here. When you change the title of a film for a fan-edit do you also change the title in the actual movie, or is it just on the disc and case labeling?

I'm looking forward to seeing some of these edits.

Although we were getting criticized for it before, we do change the film title and the intro credits as well as the final credits in the movie, which takes a lot of time usually. The criticism was about presenting ourselves inmidst the spotlight and just showing off. Well, you may see it that way. My opinion is, that an audience is supposed to know what they are watching and who made it. Leaving in the original title and not mentioning the editors would be like presenting the wrong version. We did it and no one can ignore it. This is also meant to keep people from watching our editions when they really want to see the original and vice versa. A fanedit deserves to be a movie on its own and not a false replica of the original. Therefore we will always keep changing intro credits, titles and final credits of a movie for as long as we edit them.
When you watch a CBB edit, this is exactly what you get. With our first three edits these changes were rather embarrassing, because we didn't know then how to fade out text (it's really true) and so we had to let it move above or beyond the edges to get rid of it. Later on our presentation of credits and titles got much better and we are still improving and learning with every new project. BUT althought the first efforts were not the best we never thought of them as a problem, because even major productions use to have very weak intros and it isn't so hard to compete with them after all.

Yeah I agree 100% it makes sense. People need to know what version of a film they are watching. I suppose you also have to change the end credits a bit as well in some cases.

All original artwork for CBB edits is done by CASTOR & TROY, our beautiful and only female member (so far). The last time you asked this question, it was for the "WAR OF THE WORLDS - THE EXTINCTIVE CUT" cover art. Hopefully this time you ask your question because of the same reason: you like it. Am I right here? (This is my 250th post on this forum, obviously I had a lot to say).

Looks interesting Boon, should be good.

As far as the video quality of WOTW is concerned, you did everything you could with that. The DVD release of it had terrible video problems. I think IGN gave it a 3 for video quality. The bootleg I had of it had better video than the DVD release. So all you could do was try to shine a turd.

MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.

So what're the main changes with Blade 3? I haven't seen the film yet, but I heard that it left much to be desired.

JAILBIRD looks cool. I always thought that would be better as a straight action film.

I'm surprised you didn't wait for this the ConAir extended DVD http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000EDWKXS/ref=imdbpov_dvd_0/104-8142635-9107932?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance&n=130
I don't know what new material there is but it would give you more to work with.

you could be right, Dr.M. But still our edit works very well. Maybe once we have seen the unrated edition, there will be an update.

The changes for Blade 3 are not all clear yet, but one thing is clear: Hannibal King will be hardly more than a supportive part of this movie. Jokes and swearing will be filtered out a lot and the entire atmosphere will be darker and more worthy of a Blade movie. This could also mean that our edition becomes very short (probably not more than 60 - 70 minutes), but who cares about length when you get entertainment?

Maybe you are wondering about the filesize for the DVD being just about 3 GB. Well, it looks great. No more size needed. We made a 3-pass encoding with CCE using 3 GB and an average birate of 4500 kbit/s for comparison and didn't notice much of a difference, so we kept it small-sized.

Anyway, we are very proud of JAILBIRD. It is one of our best edits as of yet.

I am currently looking for an official PIF-spreader of CBB edits in the USA or CANADA. Anyone volunteering for the job? PM me.

I'm trying to dL it but getting very slow rates. My PC heats up so I might give up depending on how it goes.

boon, regarding the leech-ing only guy. Do you use a BT client that has SuperSeed mode?
If not you should consider a switch. Superseed mode is suppose to prevent uploading to people who previously received blocks but don't appear to be passing them on to anyone else.
It also requires much less for you to upload for the torrent to get healthy.

I haven't yet made good experiences with superseeding but perhaps I will give that a try. Thanks, Dr.M

20 people downloading. Actual overall speed about 400kbit/s (which is not much but acceptable). I am uploading with an average of 80.

I'm getting pretty good rates (I'm the 70% front-runner at the moment, pretty sure I was the first to start grabbing yesterday) should be done circa 10 hours time, then the seeding shall begin proper

Can see this being pretty healthy soon - getting 30-40kb rates btw (and that's with seeding Rikter's latest Spleen-up as well).
