I heard somewhere that the Bachman book "Rage" was pulled from the shelves because it deals with shooting up a school, and a kid that shot up a school had a copy in his locker when it was searched. Is this true?
Also, any H.P. Lovecraft fans in the house?

And the hell of it is that I still haven't finished Equal Rites, Earthsea, Ringworld or any of the Conan stories. And on top of that, I'm only halfway through The City of Ember.
Red heads ROCK. Blondes do not rock. Nuff said.

I dunno, I just can't get into the EU books. They're just kinda boring. Maybe I'm just not reading the right ones, but I thought "Shadows of the Empire" was just OK, and I only got about half-way through the first "Rogue Squadron" book before I tossed it.

Has anyone ever read the paperback Indiana Jones novels? Think there was about 7 or 8 of them...
I read "Indiana Jones and the Seven Veils", as well as the "Raiders of the Lost Ark" novelization. Not the best books in the world, but they were ok.

The Silmarillion by Tolkien.
GOOD LUCK WITH THAT ONE.

This is a thread that's gone by the way side. Anyone reading anything good right now? I'm reading "American Gods" by Neil Gaiman. I've just recently discovered his work. MAN, he is awesome.
How do you co-write a book anyway?
I also picked up American Gods but haven't started it yet.
It's been a while since I've read anything, too busy watching all these fan edits.

They just re-issued a new hardcover edition of Good Omens, and it has a foreward by the authors explaining their co-writing experience

They certainly aren't of the same caliber, and I can definitely understand why staunch fans wouldn't like them, but I do find them interesting. The House series is pretty good, but the older series is kinda thin, and there are a lot of parts that are just kinda dropped in, rather than intricately woven into the story.
It's still better than that damned god-awful Jedi Academy trilogy......right, AWK?
"and I only got about half-way through the first "Rogue Squadron" book before I tossed it."
Wow, I LOVED that series. I was sad to see it end.
"How do you co-write a book anyway?"
Take turns writing every other word?
MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.
JediRandy: They’re certainly beyond any repair you’re capable of making.
MeBeJedi: You aren’t one of us.
Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.
JediRandy: I won’t suck as much as a fan edit.

I'm reading Star Wars: Vision of the Future. It's not bad as far as EU goes I guess.
How do you co-write a book anyway?
I READ THAT ONE. IT'S PRETTY GOOD. THE BOOK THAT I'M READING NOW COMES AFTER THAT AND SPECTRE OF THE PAST.

I've been reading "The Time Machine Did It" by John Swartzwelder.
John was the writer for over 50 Simpsons episodes, however is NOT a Simpson's novelization of any kind, but it has alot of the same type of humor that John has brought to the show.
If any of you have ever listened to the commentary tracks on the existing Simpsons DVDs, you'll notice that they point out John's jokes quite often...they also plugged this book, which is where i heard about it.
It's a quick read, witty, funny, highly amusing & i would definately recommend it to anybody
Next on the list: THUD! Terry Pratchett's latest Discworld novel
I actually just ordered "The Time Machine Did It" and I can't wait for it go get here. Amazon has the first few pages on line. I read it and laughed my 'hinder' off. Oh BOY!!
