.....considering many of us donated to this project it would at least be 'the done thing' to release whatever was completed of the XØ project. I'm not being 'funny' but I think it's a bit off to set up a website, ask for donations - which many gave - and then just leave the thread without even some statement saying 'sorry folks but the project is officially dead' and an apology or something?

For what it's worth. I am still willing to finish the X0 Project.

Can you give an update on any progress, or what you plan to do at this point? (Don't think the low posting rate means lack of interest -- everyone's just patiently waiting.) Thanks!

Here is a color corrected X0 frame. Noise reduction was not applied.

Let me know what you think? Thanks!

Everybody ignore this idiot. This is NOT "a color corrected X0 frame".

Netgurucr are you just begging to banned or what? Stop spamming the board idiot.

Seriously. You first posted this as a color corrected GOUT image. What are you trying to prove?

Wow, reading the webpage for the first time, the articles are VERY interesting and I hope this project is not dead.

Why don't the admins just lock this thread?  The project is in all likely dead.
The only people that post here are trolls and whiners.

If one of the members of the XØ Project want to reopen the thread later they could request it.

I couldn't agree with you more and how you put it. MeBeJedi seems to be the last member of the X0 Project. It would be nice if he could log on and fill us in. If we don't hear from a team member soon I guess we have to assume that the plan was to never share the X0 rips with anybody...

@Vbangle:  I wouldn't say that, I mean didn't they give out raw screeners before?  Or were they just teasing with screenshots?

Anyway, I honestly don't see this going any further unless MeBe were to distribute the raw rips from both the DC and the JSC and hand them over to someone else.  I mean, I hate to say it, but one by one the members have vanished.

I hate to say this as I've been a big supporter of this project from the start, but it seems as if it's a pipe dream now.  These same questions have been asked time and again for a very long time now, and it sadly seems like it'll never happen.

I sincerely hope I'm wrong.  I think even if simply the raw captures were released in a lossless format a lot could be done with them by others, and if the cleanup work has gotten far enough along releasing what has been done there as well would also be a great asset.  Hopefully something will be released eventually, regardless of what form it's in.

And to bkev, the screener that was released was leaked somehow, it was just the TCR (timecode) copy.  I don't know if anyone ever found out who leaked it or why/how.

Still... if anyone had the timecoded version, it would be worth at least looking at I think.

Hey, guys. I'm still around. On vacation this month.

That's really interesting that the X0 Project page is back. I'm wondering how, since I still haven't heard from Zion, and I assumed the worst when the page finally went dark.

Anyone know of some good software that can archive all the posts in a forum? I could use it to archive all the stuff the X0 project team talked about. There was a lot of technical ideas Z and L were talking about before they dropped off the boards.

X0 isn't dead. The dream is still alive, but it is on one hell of a hiatus. Not to mention the fact that there was a missing section of ROTJ that none of us ever got from L, so that movie likely will never be completed, or at least not as an entire X0 capture.

I guess I'll talk to the higher ups here and the fourth member, and see about offloading to captures to some talented others for the clean-up. I just don't have the time to do all that stuff on my own.

Now, hopefully I can get a hold of Z again. Dude still has one of my Def. Col. LD's!

Hang with it, MeBe.  Some progress is better than nothing.

Fourth member? o-o WHY DIDN'T I KNOW ABOUT THIS?  Just kidding.  Anyway, good to see it's not totally dead.

Great to see this. For those of us who think well of The XØ Project, it is a new breath of air. For those who consistently don't (and they know who they are), it is a well deserved b-slap. :)

In all fairness to those folk, it's been a long time.....but having two members literally drop off the face of the earth doesn't really help matters. That's the problem with knowing folks only through the internet. Plus Z was in the process of leaving the army and moving from one address to another, so I never got his most recent address. :(

Thanks for replying MBJ. I'm sure whatever was done, something great can result. I have a feeling new possibilities have opened up since this whole project was started. I could be wrong but I bet some of the advanced technology you guys were using might be more accesible to others because it has become more affordable on the consumer level. Hard drives have become incredibly cheap for instance. More computers even at the basic level are now powerful enough to handle video. It seems like more people here are capable of doing some amazing stuff too. (Adywan comes to mind) Personally, I know a whole lot about black levels and color correction and I had no idea what any of that was when this project started.

The only good news about missing part of Jedi is that I didn't notice a lot of smearing on that movie compared to the other two. Plus, after the Sarlacc, nothing is changed until the ending. (well actually the speeder bikes might have been recomposited but that's minor)

With this, the '97 super set, the Revisted and Puggo Grande, there'll be no reason to give George any more money unless the blu-ray includes the originals restored.

Take back the trilogy. Execute Order '77

MeBe, you can try this software for archiving websites (worked pretty good for me the one time I used it): http://www.httrack.com/

Maybe the whole X0 project was simply a ruse on Zion's part to obtain your LD's :)

It really is too bad the project hit what has apparently turned out to be a terminal roadblock... it would have been to the OUT what Adywan's edits are to the SE's.  I sincerely hope someone with the time and technical experience can release a pristine edit of the OUT at some point, but at this rate I think we'll just as likely get a cleaned up anamorphic Blu-ray of the film before a fan-restored edit is available.

Really? Isn't it time just to go ahead and release the raw captures? I mean its been 4+ years already, my kids were really hoping to see the X0 OUT while they're still kids....little joke but you can appreciate what I'm talking about, right?

I don't see the harm nor the difficulty in uploading to absw and let the community have at it.....PLEASE. You understand most would be happy with just the raw X0 captures, right? Think about it.

I feel kinda raped by this projecy and some of u have known about it for years LOL. If someone atleast distributed the incomplete work on here I bet half of you could get it done in less time than the millenium falcon can make it past lightspeed.

A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Did the X0 Project rape your childhood?  It some people on this board are too emotionally invested on these projects and then get all bitter when nothing happens or things don't go the way they think they should.  If the X0 doesn't get completed, I won't lose any sleep over it even though I'd love to see it done.

If you are financially invested, then that might be another story.

Yeah. I have to say RAPE was a strong word. I guess I just really would like to see it done. I'm not that big of a help for fan edits. I just give suggestions. My only part to this site is that I am a huge star wars nut an addict in some way. I have to say I am a little less against the special edition I think It works with the prequels. I just really love the original. If only ridley scott made the star wars saga. Each version would be released with the respect they deserve as blade runner (another movie i am an addict of) was.
