It's still free distribution of a copyrighted movie. Doesn't matter if it is being sold or traded. That's the main reason why we'll never see the Legacy version of Star Wars.

So THIS IS FOR REAL right and not an April fools day joke? While this announcement isn't really a surprise (anyone could see it coming by the lack of updates here), I am disappointed. It seemed like a really cool project and I would hope the materials used & finished (if there are any) could be passed along to someone(s) who CAN finish the project.

It is not free distribution. The project it is a private preservation effort, and the site will serve as a tutorial and instructions on how to do your own cleanup. Check the faq.

Hmm, the site is still the same as on the 1st. If it is a joke maybe you ought to take it down. Though, with all the crap they get from people about this (see LID project for example), I wouldn't blame them for leaving things as if they really are cancelled until they have the first film finished.

Grrrumph... I certainly hope you guys are rattling our cages...

Hey, MBJ, your second post, about the terrabyte drive, actually reinforces the hoax hypothesis, because it was edited after Zion's announcement. However your previous post said that the drive news was just a personal update... so... just in case you really are quitting the X0 project, I can certainly understand, hope you get the time to keep posting here.

Since it's now April 2nd, (or 3rd depending on one's location), it would be a pretty good time for someone to confirm or debunk this thing.

If it's true, and I feel like a complete sucker saying this, then it's a tragedy...

One day I found... 10 years had got behind me. Next day was worse.

 

Download  shows from Cable DVR (Updated! Yes, it needs a rewrite, but it's worth slogging through, anyway).

If this IS true, I am also officially done with caring about anything Star Wars. HUGE disappointment.

I certainly hope that it's not for real. I've been reading the posts on this site for two years now, and it'd be a shame for it to end this way. However to whom it may concern, would it be possible to ship the equipment used along with any finished footage to another group of people who have more time on their hands? I know that the X0 Project guys have lives, and that takes first priority for them. It would be better for them to keep things up on the home front than to be occupied with the project 24/7. That said, I just think that if another group volunteers to take over the project, that could possibly work out.

I wish the X0 guys well in all their future endeavors.

Seriously, what kind of an idiot announces something important on April 1st? I give Zion a lot more credit than that. People are too cautious about the info they receive on April 1st. Had this come on any other 364 days of the year, I would take it with grave severity. Does anybody think that by chance it came on the 1 day out of the whole year where it wouldn't be taken seriously? After all the time, money, and dedication these guys put into it, do you think they are going to drop it just like that? I think these guys are making it up as they go too, the minute somebody say "I am surprise there was no fake letter from LFL." Zion posted one. Of course if it was real, this could be a really crafty way of Zion telling us that they were ordered to cease and desist, but that they will in fact be carrying on regardless. By telling us it is cancelled he is complying with the email request, but by telling us on April 1st he prevents mass panic and cryptically tells us "Yeah, its cancelled alright!" (cue Singing in the Rain).
