I think it doesn't matter to say "Ex-O". It's te same with James Bond. You just don't say "Zero zero zeven."

A new release of Star Wars is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get.

Is it just me, or in the scene above of Darth without his helmet on, in the 2004 DVD shot, he hasn't got eyebrows, where as he does in the original version.

The guys who modernised (brutalised) these films for the special editions must have been very bored.

...yes, I did register just to post that comment

Fantastic project by the way, been following this site since about Xmas time, got the TR47 v1.0 off MySpleen which I'm really happy with as its better than my Faces VHS boxset that was getting very worn out. That still image you have above comparing to the TR47 version is amazing, HUGE quality improvement, and I certainly much prefer it to the 2004 remaster image as well (what the hell were they doing when colour grading these films? Someone mentioned "Smurf Wars" before, and they weren't kidding!) Hey, even if George eventually decided to release the OriginalTrilogy himself (I doubt it), I don't think his team would do as good a job as you guys anyway, considering the glaring errors in the special editions (especially the colour!). Considering you are working with the LaserDiscs and the special editions were worked from the original film masters, the sharpness difference between the images is extremely minimal. I've learnt loads about video capture/restoration etc through this forum, fantastic resourse for us willing to learn to do these things ourselves. Keep up the fantastic work guys

Ah, but you never write "oo7," do you? When writing, you put "007." At least the makers of the films do, though even their scripts have people saying "double-oh seven."

I'm with iRantanplan: at least type "X0," even if you say "ex-oh."

"Someone mentioned "Smurf Wars" before"

LOL...two great comments on your first post. That'll be a tough act to follow.

Okay! I edited my post. It now has a zero. What is the matter with you people?!? Who takes the friggin' time to go look at someone's post and determine if they typed a zero or an upper-case O? And then comment on it?

If there were a "shoot myself in the head to spare myself this inane drivel" emoticon, I'd be all over it!

My wife calls in the Ox-Oh project, and took great delight in editing one of my images to have the OXO stock cubes logo on it.
*sigh*

I think and say X-Zero, but it I say and think Double Oh Seven. Hmmmmm.
You may have noticed from some of my posts that I am dyslexic, so if I start calling it the 0X project, promise you guys won't beat me up.

People can call it what they like...

Well actually , they can call it anything except a 'Special Edition'

I think and say "ex oh" while I type "X0". "Ex oh" has a better ring to it. Seeing a "zero" and saying "oh" has a long history. Say this phone number to yourself - 6950. Most people tend to say "six, nine, five, oh". In fact, if you call 411 directory assistance and get a number, when the recording reads it off to you, it will state any zero as "oh".

Also, consider terms such as "00 Buck" and "30-06". Those are stated as "Double-oh Buck" and "Thirty-oh Six" or "Double-ought Buck" and Thirty-ought Six" ("ought" is the obsolete past participle of "owe" which is a homonym for "oh" as in "O").

Also, keep in mind that "zero" ends with the sound "oh" so "X0" could properly be written as "X 'o" which of course would be said as "Ex oh".

"She's real fine, my four oh...er...four zero nine..." LOL

You mean you don't pronounce it like Jethro Bodene does? Naught-Naught-Seven? Now that in an Aussie accent would be a real gem.

You have listed titles in which "0" is actually spelled out "zero", you know, leaving no doubt about how it should be stated. In which case, you have missed the point completely.

You see, the project is not written as "X Zero"; it is written as "X0". In a similar manner, my old phone number was not written on paper as 695 Zero, it was written as 6950 and was commonly spoken as six, nine, five, oh. Good luck with your venture to overturn hundreds of years worth of common-speak, lol.

Heh, I thought it had become a joke, but got confused by MaximRecoil's hardcore analysis of the pronunciation of "0".
