Dr. M,

I wasn't sure I was going to watch this. I'd seen the other edits, and this one was longer, which was a turn off to me. And you said you weren't able to smooth out all the edits. But I was intrigued by your idea to completely re-arrange the last movie, so I watched them both over the weekend, and was very entertained.

I haven't seen the original since the theatres, and it is so different from the other edits that when I watched revolutions I didn't recognize a ton of the scenes. It really felt like a new movie to me. It kept my attention the whole way through and didn't feel as long as it was. I like your explanation for the oracle's change. Very well done. Good ending too. But the fact that you made it so Neo doesn't have powers outside of the matrix is really what makes this my favorite Matrix edit. That's what bothered me most about the original. I was very pleasantly surprised. Great job, man!

What's next on your plate?

Currently there is a stalled Song of the South restoration in the works.

If you missed the releases there has also been an extended L.A. Story and a restored edition of the Little Mermaid.

As far as a true fan edit goes, I'm still looking for the right project.
Star Trek: TMP was promising, but it sounds like a lot of people are jumping on that one (finally).
I was recently really furious with the ending of L4yer Cake (though swapping an ending isn't a very serious change).

Honestly, I don't know, the Matrix was just something I was really emotional about since I consider the first film one of the greatest of all time.
It's like there was a Casablanca 2 and 3 and they starred Ben Stiller and Drew Barrymore or something. Ok maybe not, but I felt they had to be completely dismissed, or rebuilt.
I haven't come up with another movie I've felt that way about... yet.
Maybe I'll rewatch the Whole 10 Yards.

Can someone give me a hand unpacking the files for this edit? I downloaed The Matrix Hacked Reloaded and The Matrix Hacked Revolutions from rapidshare through fanedit.org, but the first file part of both movies is a .exe, and I am using a mac so I can't run it. Any suggestions that don't involve copying to a disc, switching to my Windows partition, unpacking, copying to another disc, and switching back to my Mac partition, and then burning?

Wow, this thread still exists?

IIRC the guys over at FanEdit used WinRAR to pack the DVD.

In theory, even if you can't run the executable, a Mac unRAR program should still be able to rebuild the disc... though I won't swear to that.

Can any Apple users confirm that?
