After all the talk in the off topic section I can understand some of you have an image of me that I'm an ungratefull sucker who doesn't even appreciate the liberation of Europe by the Allies in WWII.

I would like to say that's absolutely not the case. I've been to the invasion beaches in France. I went to the museums. I visited the enormous cemetaries full of white crosses. It's an overwhelming site. I'm very aware the people who lay burried there fought and died for my freedom. I won't say I think about it every day, but I do think about it at least once a week.

I would like to tell a story my dad told me once. His uncle was in Groningen (a city in the north of the Netherlands) when it was being liberated by the Canadians in WWII. A Canadian soldier (about 19 years) was shot during the battle. My dad's uncle went to the soldier to try and help him but he died in his arms. His last words were "mother... mother...". I can only imagine what his mother and other relatives must have gone through when they got the message he was killed. And ofcourse all the questions they would have had. About how he died and things like that. The sad thing is I know some things his mother would have never known. I feel some guilt because of that.

I will never forget the enormous sacrifice given, and if the situation will ever be the other way around I'm the first to enlist.
