new DVD widescreen

(all except the CED disks are in PAL..the CED versions are in US NTSC format.)

1990 VHS boxset

'tis all.

early VHS box set
1997 SE VHS box set
1989 WS LD's
1993 Definitive Collection LD's (late pressing with errors corrected)
1995 'Faces' LD's
1997 SE LD's
DVD transfers of Definitive Col. LD's and SE LD's (TR47, Dr. Gonzo, Kristhemovieman, Farsight versions and the 5-Star SE)
2004 DVD's

to get:

Laserman's and MeBeJedi's transfers (if they choose to share it (crosses fingers))
a better transfer of the SE LD's. The 5-star is good, but there is room for improvement and the DTS track is a terrible waste of space on those discs.

I own the following:

Money paid to George Lucas:
- CBS FOX 1990 versions of the trilogy - Full screen Pan & Scan
- 1995 THX Widescreen VHS versions of the Trilogy
- 1997 Special Edition VHS Trilogy Box Set - Full Screen Pan & Scan (this is utter garbage, could well just throw this away one day!)

George Lucas gets no money at all:
- DVD-R transfers of my 95 THX Star Wars Trilogy VHS Widescreen Edition
- The TR47 laserdisc transfers of the original trilogy.
- Totally absent and banished from my collection will be those damn 2004 DVD versions. Hell yeah!

Use to own:

1990 Fox Videos of all three
1997 Special Editions
2000 VCDs
2004 DVDs

...all different versions. Even the VCDs, which didn't have the English subtitles...I count that!

Right,

The Original VHS release of the films. These cost me a bomb. The only way I could get hold of the films was to pay the full price in my local video store. For Empire it cost me £56. When I say me, I mean my mum. That was my present that yaer for both X-mas and my Bday That was in 1984 when the film first came out on video. That was the fisrt time since 81 that I saw Empire. Only 3 years, but as a kid 3 years seemed to go on forever.

Anyway....

ANH (82)
ESB (84)
ROTJ (86)

Release in 1989 ish (can't exactly remember what year it was? Could of been 88.((This was the fisrt sell thru release. Just a copy of the video rental release))

First Widscreen set in 1991 (Wicked. I was like the only person who knew and liked widescreen films. Even on a shitty portable tv in my room, it was still miles better. Get to see the WHOLE film for the first time since the cinema. Wicked)

THX Picture sound remastered sound edition in 1993 ish (or whatever that set was. Funky cool covers though)

IDS Box set in 1995 (The VHS daddy. It's right next to me here...Nice)

Special Edition 1997 (Nice picture and sound compared to my old worn out copys)

Apart from the box set edition, my tapes got very used. Seen the films so many times....So many times. So when a better, newer release came out..Digitally remastered an all that shit, I just had to get them.

DVD 2004

Man, seven years since I bought SW.
Oh apart from the PT that is!

Roll on next november so I can complete the best story ever told!

I just love being able to compare the different versions @ home and they make great conversational pieces when I have friends over who don't have this menagerie of versions......

I am not ashamed to be a SciFi nerd, infact, I will encourage my "soon to be born child" to follow in my footsteps.......

Believe it or not I only own the 1997 P&S versions. Would like good DVD-Rs of the '89, '93/'95, '97 and '04 versions, ideally, so I can make a "best of breed" composite... XD

1992 PS box set(missing box.)

Dad's 97 SE PS VHS box set (box intact, videos missing labels, cases, and "certain" Mos Eisley scenes[let's just say don't piss off a distraught 14 y/o]) - to be honest, I have no clue where these tapes are, nor care(unless i want to anger up the blood).

TR47 DVD set, with Rik's Japanese LD inspired inksaver covers, and no extras disc.

4 copies of TPM

VHS widescreen boxset.
VHS widescreen bought used when main vcr expressed hatrid of TPM by destabilizing the image.
WS DVD- bought by mom for extras, rare occurence.
Balance of the Force XVID

AOTC WS DVD - got it for ten bucks as Toy R Us had a deal, and didn't list in the ad that it was a sale. Gotta love Circuit City price match.
