Secret Agent Man was the original series, known as Secret Agent in the US.
BTW, the reason I came back to this topic in the first place was to announce that the THX-1138 website is up, complete with a new trailer. It looks like this will get a limited theatrical rerelease before going to DVD. Here's the link to the trailer

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

WTF?! A George Lucas' cut version of the movie, with new CGI scenes?! What in God's name is wrong with that man?! I've never seen the original THX-1138, and now thanks to him, I never will! Ok now I'm pissed!

I think its cool that this film will be out with only a few days "Window" before its DVD comes out!. I wish New Films would do this too. IMO six months is way to long a wait.

It would have been cooler to get the film DVD right after seeing it! I'll take one large Popcorn one drink ... and one copy of the DVD Please.

IMO.

That sounds alot like The Absent-Minded Professor starring Fred MacMurray.

lol!

I believe Jedi Master is referring to the professor's bouncing bubbly plastic invention, 'flubber' as in the Robin William's remake Flubber.
The original Star Wars trilogy: Our cultural history deserves to be preserved and should be available to the public like all great works of art!

At least he wasn't referring to John Travolta's TV movie debut, The Boy in the Plastic Bubble. Ugh.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

Hi, I recently found a link to a very cool after/before picture comparison of the changes that will be applied to the DVD version of the film. As much as I did not like many of the changes applied to the classic starwars trilogy, as much I'm loving the changes they applied to this film. It really amplifies the atmosphere of it all, imho. Yet, I still believe George Lucas should have put both versions out on DVD, for the sake of historical reference.

Here are the links: Page 1, Page 2

Somebody should perform a lobotomy in Lucas, removing the part of his brain that controls the urge of creating special editions out of everything.

I found a sound bit somewhere where Lucas was talking about replacing Howard the Duck with a digital Duck.

I'll try to find that again.

How about replacing Howard the Duck with just an empty video box? That would make all of us much happier.

I've seen a preview of the upcoming DVD, and it does appear that the changes actually will help the film, rather than being a blatant marketing ploy/CGI test. I have an LD transfer of the film so I will compare them when the DVD is released, but maybe Lucas finally streamlined his editing process and didn't include superfluous scenes/material this time.

That'd be nice.

Don't you get it? I've never seen the original THX-1138, and now, thanks to GL, I never will!

I'm in the same position as well. I'm hoping somebody's gonna put up a torrent file with the original THX 1138 eventually, because I'm really interested in seeing the movie but I want to see the original version of it first.
