Just tried Vegas, and it seems promising indeed! A little weird getting used to it after working in AE, but it looks like it may do the trick. The only problem I've got with it really is that I haven't yet been able to advance footage frame by frame to make cuts. It seems to look through MPEG2s and VOBS by I,B, or Ps, which skip a few frame of film. It's also got some really nice filters (thinking of adding a little bit of grain or softness onto some of the CG shots which are staying in, as is, everybody knows how badly they conflict with the original footage). Thanks for the advice!
