I haven't liked McCullum ever since I first saw him in that Fox special on the SE. That infamous line that would become a cornerstone when I started hating the SE after Jedi. The euphoria of seeing the films on the big screen wore off, and my mother's comment on the absence of the Ewok song set many thoughts into motion. That line, "The essence of the storytelling...had to be sacrified...due to the limits in technology". It says that the old effects caused the story to suffer, a stance I strongly disagree with. After that, I started blaming the SE on Fox(wanting something like ID4 to help sell the rerelease) and Rick encouraging Lucas. That stemed mostly from my respect for Lucas, and the shody work of ILM. Just look at Star Trek: First Contact, released the previous November. The SE can't hold a candle to the realism of the FX. THey look more like Star Trek Insurrection's, which were done by a company that didn't believe in model-aided CGI. All of the ships in the PT are models, loaded into the computer and manipulated. ILM is the master of this stuff. Stand alone CG like Insurrection's can't compare(fortunately Nemesis was done by Digital Domain, the 2nd best, IMO).
