Anyone read any of the Honor Harrington series by David Weber? Excellent books.

*Bzzt* Alarm going off.

I tried to read War of Honor and was bored to death by the first 200 pages being nothing but politics.

Weren't you trying to read that like 4 or 5 months ago?

I've had Dark Rendevous sitting on my shelf since Christmas, so I think I'll start on that next.

Good news. After cleaning out my office, I found my paperback copy of "The Final Prophecy". Now I can finish it and get to "The Unifying Force", and finally complete the NJO.

Yeah. And I didn't specify a time in that recent post.

just finished reading episode 3, now i'm reading heir of the empire. I just came to the conclusion recently that star wars nolonger matters as films anymore. The books are where it's at. I'm willing to bet that the episode 3 novelization is way better than the movie will ever be.

Honor Harrington= the science fiction version of Tom Clancy. So yeah, if you don't like epic space battles, endearing characters, and planetary politics, then yeah, don't read them.

And why would you start with the most recent one???

War of Honor = Page after page of politics.

I'm sorry if I've insulted you or something. And I didn't know that War of Honor was the most recent

Anyone ever read a story called "Harrison Burgeron"? Very interesting commentary on the dangers of too much "equality", ie: Same-ness.

"Still Me" by Christopher Reeve.

I'm a big Superman fan, so naturally Reeve and of course his tragic accidnet was of great interest to me. But this autobigoraphy isn't about the DC Comics character; it gives you a window into the mind of one of teh great symbols of hope and perserverance of our time. To read of Reeve's struggles and reflections of the life he had before is quite moving, especially when he gets into the specifics of how the accident affects his everyday life. His optimistic outlook on his situation and determination to walk again is indeed heartbreaking now that he has passed, but I recommend it to anyone. It really makes you stop and appreciate the little things in life to many of us take for granted.

The word hero is used so inappropriately these days. I would be hesitant to ascribe it to anyone to tell you the truth. However, for people who ae suffering from a debilitating illness, who have to struggle just to get out of bed in the morning, who the pain or symptoms are so bad for that they feel trapped and begin to think about suicide, but don't. Those are the ones who are worthy of our acknowledgement. Sounds like a good read.

Chaltab, don't worry, you didn't offend me. I was just a little confused at first.

Still trying to get through Cestus Deception...some of those novels are good but just really don't grab me.

So is Ender's Game any good? I picked it up cheap recently, it's on my list now.

Any of you ever read the Incarnations of Immoratlity series by Piers Anthony? First one is called On a Pale Horse, which is a story about how someone kills Death and must assume his role. Very interesting. Read the first few several years ago, like when I was in middle-school (about 20 years ago...GOD!).

I'm not really a fan of family guy, but if I have a favorite episode, that one is it. The no-death bar fight had me ROFL...

Quite true.

Good book, though. Got my copy from Gundark.
