The 2004/2011 special editions are infamous for their horrible colors and missing audio cues. Then again, the GOUT has bad DVNR.
First of all, what do you mean by "real"?
If by real you mean official, then yes, the GOUT is the best way to go (specifically NTSC GOUT for ANH and ESB; and PAL GOUT for ROTJ, unless your dvd player can only handle one format) for video quality. The definitive edition laserdiscs, despite the slightly lower video quality compared to the GOUT, has superior audio (uncompressed instead of Dolby Digital AC3), but uses the same sound mix.
If by real you mean no special edition footage whatsoever, even if the footage is almost identical to the original, then I would suggest the Dark Jedi GOUT DVD's and the related Team Blu GOUT blu-rays. I, like many on the forum, am impatiently waiting for the negative one project to be completed. 35mm prints of all three films of the original trilogy. If you're too impatient, the Puggo Grande, Pug Strikes Back, and Return of the Pug are based off 16mm prints of ANH, ESB, and ROTJ respectively. They might be the closest to "real" you are going to get atm, but sometimes it is said that they look worse than the GOUT. Shame that Puggo doesn't have any way to scan those prints in HD. It could have helped people like Harmy...
Anyways, those are your options. I hope you find what you're looking for, even if I don't understand myself.
