Im not a Lucas basher at all, (I mean he gave us this obsession that we all share) but I think the major difference between Lucas and Adywan when it comes to these special editions is that Lucas will simply tell a bunch of his employees "I'd like this in there and remove that outta there" and then he goes out to lunch lol. Then guys who Im sure love SW to an extent fix whatever he says and call it a day. While Ady (with the input and help of his team of course as well as the guys in this forum) is totally hands on and with his edits with his own perfectionist vision of what the special editions should be. I love SW REVISITED as much as the original version of the film & I cant wait to watch this one as well! When this is available to download, I'll definatly be having a day off from work lol.

I believe the change in the screen, making it cleaner, is for the best. Man, can't wait to see the final result. Although we can't ask about a release date, can we at least ask what needs yet to be done in order to finish it? :)

JK, I guess that's cool to ask about.

As for the meditation chamber view screen, i have removed all of the graphics and have just kept the outer detailing. It did look too busy so i'm going to keep those to use in ROTJ:R

Yay!  Awesome. :)

I wonder what they'll be used in ROTJ for... maybe they could be put on the Emperor's window so he's not randomly looking out into space doing nothing?

The emperor doesn't need a HUD. He stares out the window at the universe and sees everything with the force!

The Emperor's throne room in ROTJ has a large monitor to the right of the window (our right), though it looks to be switched off a lot of the time.

They told me they’d fixed it!

The throne room has two big monitors one one the left and one on the right.

It would be interesting but the only thing that worries me is that as soon as someone knows something is impossible they just can't do it.

So much of what made films of that era and even earlier so amazing in the first place was people didn't know what they couldn't do so they did it and Ady belongs to that same dojo.

After gathering together every clip of ESB:R that I could find and watching them in order on my big telly (I'll let you be the judge of how sad that is) I noticed something a bit dodgy about the newest clip.

At about 14 seconds in as the Star Destroyers approach Hoth two TIEs fly in from screen right. Around both of them, but most noticably the one on the right, those horrible matte boxes can be clearly seen - even more so as they fly closer together and over the Super Star Destroyer. Now, I remember Ady saying that as many of those things "as possible" would be removed but to my eyes that shot is composed in a similar way to the one of the Falcon flying with the Death Star in the background from ANH and he made a very good job of cleaning that one up.

Surely Ady couldn't have missed this one (for he is all knowing and seeing) as it's quite obvious on the big screen and if this is the case then I'd be interested to know what factors contributed to it not being "fixable". For an amateur like myself his work appears almost miraculous but it'd be interesting to get a little insight into the limits of the tech that's being used!

Sort your telly out!

Just saw the new clip, nice work Ady!  Only problems I have with it are the two tie fighters we see when the imperial fleet arrives at Hoth, at the first part of the clip.  You can see the blue screen matts around the ties when they pass by, and their flight path gets a bit sloppy right before the scene ends.

The other problem is the scene when the first transport takes off. The problem is not with the transport that is already in flight, it's the one thats coming out of the cave that is the problem. It's really distracting. I suggest that those background ships should be static or moving a bit slower, and composition wise, they stand out a little too much. They could use some softening. I also suggest darkening the ships a tad bit more. They seem to be catching a little bit too much light.

I think the focus should be on the ships in flight, and not on the ones in the background.

Other than that, I really like what I saw.

If I were to say anything about the transports in the distance in the shot mentioned above, they appear a bit too fuzzy if anything... I know they are at a distance, but the shot does have deep focus, as the mountains have a good amount of detail to them.

Even so, I personally didn't find the movement of the transport coming out to be distracting at all.

I never get tired of watching the clip. The Rebel Hoth displays are truly amazing. Can't wait to see this movie. :)

I think it is just that we tend to focus so much on what has been added, simply cause we are aware something was added. A few viewings and I started to not notice it as much and focused back to the ships flying toward the camera.

For what it's worth, until the added transports were mentioned in this forum, I hadn't noticed them in the clip (which I was watching passively, not trying to find anything)! Looking back to catch this addition, I find it very effective and subtle.

I was the same as TG, I only noticed the obvious stuff like the ion control displays (LONG OVERDUE LUCAS IF YOUR READING THIS!) the transport I didn’t notice until my 3rd viewing, & only then because they were mentioned on here

I just seen the Hoth clip, very nice work.

One day we will have properly restored versions of the Original Unaltered Trilogy (OUT); or 1977, 1980, 1983 Theatrical released versions (Like 4K77,4K80 and 4K83); including Prequels. So that future generations can enjoy these historic films that changed cinema forever.

I, on the other hand, was looking for stuff but didn't see it until 005 did his comparison :)
