STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW — Page 578

Just a random thought, but reading about some of these changes reminds me of how with ANH:R, someone (sorry, can't remember who without a big search) was able to play the movie to a room full of professional editors and such and he gave us their overall impressions, including pros and cons. It would be cool if the same thing could be done again with ESB:R. :)

That was Mojo_LA (aka DarthMojo) I believe.

I think he left after the mostly negative (fanboyish) reaction to his "cons" list. Much like with Darth Venal, people on these boards don't seem to appreciate criticism if they come from pros.

That or a common factor with being a pro is being a Richard, if you know what I mean.  Besides, I think we all know the difference between criticism (where you end things off with positive suggestions as well as maybe presenting them, which Venal did on occasion) and just plain being a Dick Tracy about things (again, like how Venal had to have the last word in things and would go on and on - you know, like that Kurgan guy and his blue TIE fighters.  >:).

Aaaaanyway, this is for Ady:
Again, not that anything has to be done, but any word on what to do about the hallway behind Piett when he visits Vader?  Personally, I think it could be left "as-is", just remove the people moving about and/or create a wall to give Vader's chamber a foyer of sorts (the outer door could be shown open with traffic moving about).

I know it's a double post, but IF it is to be fixed/altered, it could be relatively easy..

I reckon it's more likely to be the way that any criticism is put across, that determines how's it's taken, rather than whatever criticism itself.  There's always likely to be certain things that not every Star Wars fan is going to agree on, be they professional or fanboy.

What's beyond dispute though is the sheer commitment and quality from Adywan that is on display on his project.  That outweighs whatever anyone may not agree with, at the end of the day.

Wrong.  This is Star Wars.  Everything takes place far, far away.

;)

I for one like the idea of his chambers being away from the action.  Having Piett march all the way into the bowels of the ship makes Vader seem even more menacing.  And has anyone mentioned the risk of having an A-wing crash into the bridge?

I guess I just don't see any benefit in altering that outside 'set' portion to try to make Vader seem 'isolated from the action' of the Bridge, especially since the footage doesn't seem to indicate that.  It all comes down to....a certain point of view, but I'll take whatever comes of course.

However, I don't think any kind of out-of-control A-wings perhaps crashing into the Bridge area would have been at the forefront of the Executor designer's mind, considering the protective firepower that it supposedly has.  I wouldn't think it would have any bearing on where Vaders quarters were situated, and I blame pure bad luck (and sloppy marksmanship from the Imperials) for that outcome in ROTJ.  ;)

And good to have Adywan confirming a few more things in his latest post.

The benefit is to add to the illusion that Vader is on a huge starship.   Otherwise it looks like they're trying to get by "on the cheap" repeating the use of some other sets.

Agreed, Adywan has done outstanding work.  I've enjoyed all the work displayed so far on Empire.  I was thoroughly impressed with ANH:R and I was totally blown away with what he did with the last battle to destroy the Death Star.

I think the majority of users here appreciate criticism when it's constructive. Venal, IMO would just bitch everyone out for their opinions without really adequately explaining why he thought they were wrong. He appeared to be "above" that and his later posts were nothing more than trolling. I couldn't give a damn if he was in the business or not, he was rude, arrogant, and thought people should take his word as gospel even when he didn't provide a compelling argument, and sometimes didn't seem to know what he was talking about at all.

His career path (judging by his matte work) has obviously been visually oriented, yet he was a complete know-it-all about scriptwriting, character development etc. Now maybe he does happen to know about those things, but this would have nothing to do with him being a "pro" as they're in a completely different area to his profession.

I guess my point is that the fact someone is a "pro" or not is irrelevant. It doesn't make their opinion any more valid than anyone else's when they're talking about things outside of their professional expertise. And even if it is in their area, they may still go against popular opinion.

Did he leave then? I assumed he was banned.

DV was indeed banned.

I made a suggestion for a Banned thread where bans would be announced, but have heard nothing back.

Why wouldn't Needa use a Lambda class shuttle to go to the executor? These shuttles would be used to ferry important members of the Empire: the Emperor, Vader, and high ranking officers, of which Needa is one. It makes more sense having him fly in a Lambda class shuttle than a modified TIE bomber. And the argument about Lucas not changing it doesn't really hold up. Look what he changed that wasn't necessary but ignored things that did need changing. In Revisited the shuttle is going to stay just that: a shuttle, so in ROTJ  Han & co's shuttle will be changed to a cargo ship, which it should have been in the first place

Its your edit Ady, but a TIE Shuttle is already a Shuttle, seems since ROTJ everyone thinks theres only one design, after I saw TESB in '80 for three years I thought a TIE Shuttle was the only way for senior officers to travel.

Hey Adywan, maybe this was already discussed...But I realized that in the asteroid field, when the TIEs are chasing the Falcon that:

---In the original movie the TIEs don't fire in the asteroids.

---In Adywan's old comparison video he shows the RE version have the TIEs firing.

---Now in the most recent RE asteroid field video, they aren't firing again.

Is there a reason for that? Like it's dangerous enough already in the asteroids, wouldn't shooting make it worse? Is that why you changed it back?

I was very disappointed when I read that change has swapped back again too, hopefully Ady will include it as an extra on a version of the final project.

Author

Yeah, an extra would be nice, at least. He said it just didn't feel right when he was doing it, but man, that was so cool! Sure, they (the TIE pilots) have their hands full already, but they're supposed to be the best, so I could see them getting off a few shots when they had a second.

Echo Base View Screen

Does anyone know if there are any plans to add some FX to this view screen. I was thinking along the lines of the  flat outlines of star destroyers(red like the death star plans) moving toward the planet.

Insert awsome Angel Mockup Here!

I think it is adding a little, but not too much. That viewscreen never made any sense to me.

Author
Time

Yeah we discussed this a while back. I think ady is adding some lights but I'm not sure. The discussion was so tangled I forget. It was mostly centered around Mr. Ion Cannon on the right.

From what I remember, Ady has said he plans to add some subtle animation to the screens, but nothing too obvious.

Sorry, apologies for going off topic again.

There is two ways of taking critisim. Take it or leave it. Im sure George himself, a defined pro, after giving the world Star Wars, now has got hacked off with us "fanboys" here, took it for so long, then became hacked off when he couldnt take the critism of his SE's as being the definitive editions from us nit-pickers here since the site began. After-all we are being critics ourselves.

Id love for George to get involved here himself, to see if he can take/adopt/dismiss, unpaid/unskilled/partial bum lickers to himself, 'OT fans' ideas here. Or if he'd just get to a stage where he is far supperior to us all, then attacks every 'improvement' suggested.

Brash, thats not quite fair on someone who cannot defend himself here now, but it would have helped on a little support at the time. Members dont come here just to pick an argument, i know (i just called it like i seen it. Thats my job) ;-)

I didnt know Venal was working on the mattes at all (i upped the Dorman high res mattes for members just to view, or hopefully work on). I also got banned aswell at the same time. The whole affair left a bitter taste for me here after (i havent done much work on custom covers, since critism here in the past too). But i am drawn to it.

I would like to see him back if he can just curb the attitude (and language), as there was not so much of a personal issue for me with him (i just like to apply a liitle british light hearted humour, to a sensible world here), its just how he conducted himself within the forums (i get naughty here too, but i have the scence to back down, curbing around the swears i'd use, and not hounding 'so much' on every post). And yes he could have a consructive opinion with how he thinks (though application though=poor).

Hopefully, i can bury some demons.

Teharri, I remember reading that Adywan will be altering those viewscreens, but he did not elaborate on the specifics. I suppose it's a surprise!

Also, 5 by 5, your avatar frightens me.

Josh, i also think i also called HIM after you 'a muppet' aswell in the past. Yoda was a muppet, so im actually paying a little respect, believe it or nada. Its my own scence of humour. But, manhood?? Have you seen my avitar? My helmet was designed on.......(nevermind).

No, i guess most of the time i apply the insult 'muppet' as a lifeless figure, with a hand up their bum to make them work, how another exactly wishes them too....

It might be. Has anyone else here been posting mattes? I've seen some of Angel's recent mockups, which are great. He's a great conceptual artist.

In Adywan's old comparison video he shows the RE version have the TIEs firing.

He removed the lasers. I dont remember the reason.. lol

I want them back. It may add more interaction to laser asteroid impacts as well MORE color :D

Very well :D

See it stylised. We have see the bombers before so we are slight familiar with the design. If we see the tie shuttle again ,which is similar to bomber's design, we are going to assume the same thing. we need a really heavy close up to the shuttle to spot why its not a bomber witch is something will not be. Play with silhouettes always. basic Marvel comic rule :D

And the problem with the mound being covered by debris was fixed a very long time ago

I knew it :D

I've seen some of Angel's recent mockups, which are great. He's a great conceptual artist.

Thanks ;)
