dude! i just watched that trailer and i can't breath. i was litterally shaking man! when does this release? i'm guessing its an alternatitve to SWG.
yea, u are right though. not that i don't like the clone wars t.v. series, but why couldn't they use that animation for the show?
It'd be cool to see a few of those shots used in ROTS — just about anything that isn't a mid/long shot looks as realistic as the CG in the movie itself, and the idea of a bunch of Siths assaulting the temple does appeal to me. (We'd have to dump the Rule of Two but that's about it.)

I don't have immediate access to my copy of The Thing at the moment, so I can't confirm anything, but are there not additional shots taken from the viewpoint of the helicopter later in the film, when Kurt Russell goes to the Swedish camp?
If not, oh well.

Nope... popped the DVD in last night to take a look. Neither the opening scene (of the helicopter chasing the dog) nor the later trek to the other research station offers up any good camera shots.
Not that it matters, since ady now has Serji-X Arrogantus's excellent CGI landscape to work with. Any word on that render, btw?

The AT-AT model is one I downloaded from Sci-Fi:3D just to help add a focal point to this shot, the scale of the walkers is probably out, but you get the idea, also it isn't walking, they're having a rest after a busy day of shooting rebels !

^ Looking good Serji-X. Barring anyone finding some nice HD documentary footage that fits the bill, I would imagine your work presents the best option for tweaking that ESB shot. I would love to see a high quality version of the clip.

We see the first visible establisting shot of the battle fielf in the first image.
Its a clear weather if we assume that the day passed a bit from the morning when the troopers first see the AT-ATs in the fog.
Also i know ady may take care already that just now with Serji-X's help we can have a more complete view of the field

I think you're definitely right on this. The only thing that has been suggested and not reported back on yet is the Planet Earth documentary. (I've asked a guy I know who has it if there's anything like what we need) Haven't seen it, but I have a feeling that if there are any shots like what is needed, it'll be the type that's shot on a really sunny day with tons of glare coming off the ice, which is beautiful, but no good in this case. ;)

I haven't exactly got a photographic memory but the view outside Luke's window looks suspiciously similar to the one outside the window of the speeder that finds him after Wampa night.
Could they have used the same aerial footage?
If so could it be isolated and retinkered with to put the mountains behind the model side view?
