BEST....PREVIEW....CLIP....EVER!! :)
I wasn't expecting all that when I clicked onto your link Adywan. I thought it was just going to be a brief excerpt of your ION Cannon 'firing', which alone would have been great! (with the Turret Gun present and corrected I see)
Instead, we got a full 41 seconds of 'answers', wrapped-up in pure effects magic! Many thanks for that.
F-I-N-A-L-L-Y, this sequence shows the kind of impact that was always possible here. I love it! And along the way, a lot of bothersome questions have been put to rest now -
It seems in the end, you've succeeded in RETAINING the overall original 'look' and 'feel' of the first 2 'Tyrant' shots, to a large degree, while making some ingenious enhancements to them. Making the Hoth Planet bigger in the frame, so that the Stardestroyers are CLOSER to it by this point, is a huge improvement that really shows the 'Tyrant' is pointing more DIRECTLY at the Planet now, to tie-in with where the escaping 'Transport' / X-Wings approach it from (and the Hoth Planet itself looks excellent). And Monroville will be very pleased (as I am, since I didn't really expect it) that you DID go the extra mile, and totally changed the SIDE-view 'interior' into the FRONT of a 'Bridge' for the 'Tyrant', as he'd suggested!
I also see that since the earlier 'Fleet approaching Hoth' shot, that you eventually chose to have the ships be deployed into a more 'surrounding', spread-apart manner, after all.... After previously being disappointed with these 2 particular 'Tyrant' shots over the years, I am now VERY satisfied with your chosen outcome, and of course, the shots of the ION Cannon firing, onwards, have turned out wonderfully too. (What an improvement with the new 'electrical' laserbolt in the end....and the 'Tyrant' firing back adds a lot to the scenes too!)
I note that the 'Executor' isn't shown 'hanging back a little' somewhere during all this though, but I realise it doesn't necessarily need to be in the area of any of these shots, as things stand....although I guess it could be accomodated in part or in whole, into one or more of the 'Transport approaching the 'Tyrant' / getting past the 'Tyrant' shots....
Which brings me to the final shot of the 'Transport' and remaining X-Wing speeding up into 'Hyperspace'.... I'm sure doubleofive will be as delighted as me, at how well this particular idea of his has been executed.... It looks fabulous!
You've surpassed yourself on all this Adywan. Well done!
There is a couple of very little things that I'd like to bring up though, and I'm pleased that doubleofive put up his recent 'comparisons', so I can show what I mean -
In the middle 'comparison' shot shown above, where we see Captain Lennox looking out at the (now approaching!) Hoth Planet....it seems that a hint of the 'curvature' of the Hoth Planet should be seen in the TOP-RIGHT of the LEFT window too, at this point. The way it currently looks has a sort of 'optical illusion' that seems not quite right, because the 'curvature' looks to be too 'lined-up' at EXACTLY where the TOP-RIGHT corner-edge of the LEFT window-frame is. Would you consider having the Hoth Planet element start it's subtle 'movement' from a little further along to the LEFT to begin with, so that we see a definate hint of the 'atmosphere' in that TOP-RIGHT bit of the LEFT window, before it is then obscured by the window frame? This would also really help to reflect the look of the original shot (which was wrong in other ways) a bit more too, which showed the 'atmosphere' over 2 of the windows. I think this would really be a nice touch. Failing that, would you consider moving the Hoth Planet element over to the RIGHT a little instead, to begin with, which would again remove this 'optical illusion'? Either way would work.
Finally, in these 'comparison' shots above, it seems that the window 'edging' seen on the RIGHT-hand side of 2 of the windows is NOT 'parallel' all the way up.... (One is just behind Captain Lennox's back, and the other is just in front of his approaching officer's face) Shouldn't these be the same thickness all the way along?
Whatever you decide, this whole sequence is a triumph, compared to before! :)
