I had a shot at it as well, I lost some detail in the right background, but I was mainly focusing on Leia's dress.

Now all you have to do is make scans like these for all the other frames, and we're off to the races!! :)

Those more natural skintones of yours look kinda... little heavy on the reds, IMO.

I did a quick 5 minute fix i Photoshop on the picture of Han in The Millenium Falcon.
Hey Negative1, I've found that simple color correction (minus levels autofix and cameraphone) in Microsoft Digital Image Standard works amazing! Seriously... usually programs that come with the computer are crap, but it took away near all the fade while keeping all the natural colors. I'll post a few of my results soon.

All right, I lost one of the originals, but for two of these I have comparison shots!
First, I'll start with this shot. This is the one where I lost the comparison (sorry!)
Then, Leia's close-up.

And last, the iconic ending shot.

Note the lack of fading, and slightly better color balance. Filmstrip shots were re-sized to fit GOUT proportions. For anyone who wants to compare these to the GOUT, the shots are right above. Personally, I think this looks much better than the GOUT already!

Negative1, the issue I have with your correction there is that a certain amount of detail has been lost. Notice, for example, Leia's dress. I can't quite describe it the way I see it, but it appears to me her dress blends in too well with her skin; there's no defining line. It looks like it suffered from bad DVNR correction or something. But I do like that you're putting effort into these and making mutliple shots at correction!
A Goon in a Gaggle of 'em
Those last two shots are way too bright. You can't even see the detail at the neckline of her dress anymore.
EDIT: bkev, you beat me to it.
Quite frankly, the one that looks most correct is the top one (the gout). The others have the whites blown out and/or the color looks faded.

No white in the GOUT?
What do you mean? That they aren't ffffff? They shouldn't be, pure white means overexposure.
I don't think my version is all that dark, but it's the best I could do without making it dull or overexposed.

I agree out of all the Leia pics above I prefer the less white GOUT version. I prefer the darker more realistic pigmentation.
