I’d just like to say that several members here that I used to hold much respect for are now on a mental list of members I hold with moderate to extreme disdain, due to there unreasonable statements regarding Japanese animation, which I find are extremely insulting to many people. Just to be specific, I refer mainly to the members TV’s Frink, Tyrphanax, and suspiciouscoffee.
Even Silver Wook has stated his dislike of such posts that starting spilling out of members somewhat recently.
I don’t care what anyone else’s opinions are for the most part. I can’t tell anyone what to think, and I don’t want to. If someone wants to be a fool, then I’ll let them be a fool, as long as they aren’t directly hurting others.
I just find these opinions being voiced in such harsh manners to be insulting, and would like to ask that such members (and anyone else I may have forgotten to list) refrain from continuing the redundant and useless statements regarding Japanese animation.
I’m sure many of you can sympathize with this thought, as many members here quickly got tired of hearing many harsh statements regarding TFA after its release earlier in the year.
I find that this is an even worse situation than that (especially considering that I personally thought TFA moderately sucked), because rather than voicing specific opinions about one particular film (even if unreasonable), these members are voicing almost completely unreasonable opinions (while stating them as facts) about an entire subsection of an entertainment media.
I’m mostly joking when I say it. I have several friends irl that are fans of various animes and I make the same jokes. Usually they laugh it off. I guess it doesn’t work as well in the typed form as it does in person. I shall refrain from making further comments on the matter of anime as I have recently.
Thank you for clarifying and being a reasonable human being, rather than an ass like the other two specified members.
And I’m not trying to shame anyone for offending anime lovers or anything like that. I just think that the statements being made were completely unnecessary and unreasonable, not to mention insulting if any such statements were made genuinely.

“Typed form” does have some play in the matter of understanding statements fully. But yes, I’ve realized that at least most of it coming from you is trolling ever since you started the shtick.

I’m well aware that most of it is just trolling (something that I find much hypocrisy in), but underneath the thick layer of troll, I can’t tell how much is genuine opinion or not.

I never took your apparent dislike of anime personally. I just find it extremely annoying, and under the mild thought that there is some genuine opinion behind the troll, I feel that a whole lot of people (myself included) are being needlessly insulted. And that would be actually insulting to many people, unlike the use of retard as a direct insult.

Concerning how “being mean to anime” isn’t what you seem to think it is: when you say all Japanese animation is objectively awful, you are essentially saying that all Japanese people are completely incapable of creating quality pieces of animated media.
Then add the other side, which is where I am included. You not only said that anime was bad, but you also said that watching/enjoying a piece of Japanese animation is clear evidence immaturity. That is quite insulting as well.
And about the retard remark: I personally don’t believe that actually mentally challenged people are being mass-insulted when someone calls someone else (or something else) retarded in an insulting way, regardless of whether it’s genuine or playful. When you are “being mean to anime,” you are directly insulting all of those people. When I call someone retarded for not making intelligent choices or whatnot, I am directly insulting there mental capacity. That’s one person being insulted. And to say that is the same as using idiot, moron, stupid, or any other nearly synonymous term that’s out there.
And you insult people on this forum to belittle them all the time, deserving or not, so I don’t see the issue.
