My first forray into the fanedit world is now finished.

Just wanted to let you know that I am currently encoding Rise of the Empire (based on RotS of course) to Xvid, so the torrent should be up on MySpleen a little later today.

Cheers to everyone that's given me pointers along the way. Hope you all enjoy.

Okay, this took longer than expected. I'm going to skip the torrent bit. I have a server running that should be able to handle the load for today. After that there should be plenty of seeds to torrent with:

May 19, 2005 George Lucas will be releasing what we can only hope will be
his final butchering of the great Star Wars legacy. In anticipation of the general
disappointment by the fan community, L4ndst4nder has already set things right.

Removing further midichlorian references, tightening up of edits, removal of slap-
stick-y antics, all alien and english dialog, and any scene with Hayden Christensen,
Jar Jar Binks, Natalie Portman, droids, and the character soon to be known as
General Grievous Mistake.

Opening crawl have been made less complicated and darker by their absence, and
some deleted scenes have remained deleted to keep the movie from getting too slow.

I hope you all enjoy.

Yeah, I had heard various live recordings, but never a radio one (like that seemed to be). </off topic>

Request time for any one who can copy their DVD-R files back to HD : The Isomix trilogy is still alive and well on the Spleen - but the Extras DVDR has passed on so my 4-disc tray has a gaping hole - could anyone help out please or shall it be a long wait til we wrap around to these again?

Thanks to anyone - less than 7 weeks to go now

yup - you're right it's the Farsight Extras - couple of peers have popped on - one with 94% so I bet he's hoping for some help too - thanks to anyone

I don't think that the Isomix has an extras Disc. Perhaps you are refering to the Farsight extras? Which was the exact torrent name?

PS: Wookie Groomer: Please answer to my previous question... I can't proceed without your authorization...
And now, for your feature presentation:
The Classic Re-re-re-release of Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back.
In this version the word "WOOKIE" has been changed to "HAIR CHALLENGED ANIMAL" and the entire cast has been digitally replaced by Ewoks.

@Greencapt & Rikter:
Thanks for the praise!

I didn't expect to fool anybody, but thought that April 1 was the perfect time to show it off. It's been finished for a couple of days.

The main aim of the project was to replicate all the text elements of the Episode II cover. I got all the right fonts and messed around with all the sizes and colours and everything, until I had a bunch of text layers that recreated the text on that Episode II cover (which was as a layer underneath for me to work on).

After that I decided to make a "mock" Episode III cover. I knew it would never look anything close to the real thing. One of the main problems was that I didn't have any hi-res stills, I had tons of stills for Episode III, just none that were high enough resolution. This meant that the front montage and the back still would look pretty crap (they're all images that were upsized 300%). The other problem was the lens flare, I used a ton of them, but couldn't get any that looked close, so I had to leave it out.

Anyway, I'll keep this cover and update it with the true features in November, I'll also snoop around for higher quality pictures. This isn't a cover that I'd be releasing for download - It's just a nice challenge to try and recreate something as accurately as possible.

So, aside from issues relating to the stills, can anyone see any other areas where I could fix things up? Please let me know in this thread. Be brutal, I don't mind. Ironically, this is the closest I've ever come to showing you guys my custom covers. I guess that's because all my other ones are incomplete. :b

Well, here's a suggestion: The characters and all the various objects that you placed as layers in front of the red background don't blend naturally with it. What I do is set the front layer transparency to 95%. Then, I use the eraser tool in Paint Shop Pro (I think Photoshop has it also with the desired parameters but I'm not certain), setting the hardness to 0 and using a very big eraser size (100 pixel size for a 1000x1000 image) . What I do then is run the perimeter of the figure, (not draggind the eraser, it is best done if you makes a spot-by spot perimeter), only letting the edges of the eraser touch my image. You will see that your figures will blend far more naturally with the background that way.

perhaps an off-topic question for this thread, but can anyone here shed a little more light on the 'Code 9 Trilogy', I've had the covers for it for a while now, and am wondering if this really exists, and if so where might one be able to obtain a copy of it...

Thanks

The Code9 is an honest bootleg - It's a 3 on 1 DVD copy of the official DVD's - the DVD's that we talk about here are FAN Preservations and Edits.

BUT yes this was and still is a torrent out there somewhere...
