Hi hundsdorfex, I risk to be a little off topic because the edit I would like to do is recoloring the “Santino Jr” lost sequence reincorporated in the last Hal9000’s Godfather II revision (@fanedit forums).

As the colored scene before the black and white scene is quite similar, I though the best way was to make a clean background (thanks to all single assembled pieces of frame) in color to avoid recoloring each frame. Hence I would have at least a background colored sequence, and then the characters in darkness would be more quickly recolored.

I know there are several tips for advanced user like rotoscoping or automatic background replacing but I’m a total novice.
The entire B&W sequence is about 5 seconds long.

To put in a nutshell, my questions are :

  • Is it possible (/or would be a big pain for a poor result 😉 ) ?
  • What’s the best way to do it ? (video editor / image editor) ?

I made some quick recoloring and frame assembling tests with an image editor :

Thank you in advance
