All histrionics aside, Luke, his black outfit, his green lightsaber, the final duel between he and his father, McDiarmid’s performance, and the special effects in general all work to place ROTJ slightly above average. Nothing else does a thing for me anymore, including Vader’s so-called redemption.

Like how people thought Episode I ruined Star Wars, but in reality it was already ruined sixteen years earlier? ROTJ is closer to Howard the Duck than ESB in terms of quality.

I really wish there was a way to hide posts with hyperbolic denunciations of ROTJ. Of all the insufferable jackassery that goes on here, whe whining over how the franchise has been “completely ruined” since '83 may be the most insufferable. I understand that people hold that opinion, but good God does the constant circling back to that point get irritating for those of us with reasonable expectations and any amount of perspective.

Still, the mid-80s were not good for Lucasfilm critically; Fist there was Jedi of course, then Temple of Doom, Howard the Duck, and maybe even Willow.

No, don’t be silly. The truth is that ROTJ is on the same level as the rest of OT.

Those shot/reverse shot angles of Luke and Ben/Leia sitting down and talking are SO visually engaging.

All the bad dialogue and boring cinematography from the prequels can be traced in a direct line to Jedi.

Now that I know this parody thread has resulted in a conversation between frevious and impscum, I demand that Jay go back in time and stop himself from creating this site.
