okay so i saw the movie cold mountain last night with my girlfriend so i could evaulate it for the oscars...
i think it was unbelievably amazing... it am surprised it wasn't nominated for more oscars than it was... however i have a couple bones to pick here so just hear me out...

first off i was amazed at all the actors in the movie... especially when i saw Natalie Portman in it... that immediatly made the movie more worth while.. lol.. jk

but something which i must say i had kinda mixed thoughts about was the nudity and sex... which i must admit i never have a problem with because if theres one thing i like it's nudity and sex... but i think in a movie like this i just kinda tarnished the whole look and feel of some scenes... such as

SEMI SPOILER!!!!

when he goes to the house with his priest friend he meets along the way and is offered to have sex with one of the girls while his buddy is have sex with like 4 of them!! she literally bends over the table and lifts up her dress totally bare assed.... now i dont wanna sound like a complainer but that was just kinda shocking in a movie such as this....

then we have the sex scene with Jude and Nicole which wasn't that bad with showing her nipple and all because i semi expected it but did anyone else notice her pubic area caught on film??? maybe i was just looking to close but it was fairly noticable especially with the camera that close...

then finally we have the scene with Natalie Portman... and this one i knew i was looking too close! come on guys it Nat here... lol
if you look closely to when Jude hops in bed with her and after she finishes crying... she curls up beside him and he puts his arm around her... well lets just say that either they deliberatly missed her nipple coming out of her dress or they were just blind... i guess her nightgown must have got caught up on his shirt or somthing and ended up pulling down her neck line revealing a little shot of her nipple
however i wasnt so much bothered by that one! lol

well this was just a small gripe i was talkin with a bunch of friends about and figured i would bring it to your attention....
anyone else noticed any of these??

It's actually a lot of fun. Mostly it consists of threading up the film once it's finished, making sure it's in frame abd everything is running smoothly while it's running, and dealing with focus and volume issues. Just multiply those issues by 14 screens, and that's what I do most of the time. We have a union projectionist who handles things like putting the film together and attaching the trailers. I just run the suckers.
