In fact this is what Leia does in the opening scene of ANH. Leia has the plan when the movie begins, she uploads them into R2 after having recording her message to Ben.
Jokes aside, I do think we’ll see the plans handed off to Leia at the end. We won’t see her, but the audience will know who it is.
OR … do you think it’s possible they actually use the orignal Leia footage (since this is all Lucasfilm anyway) digitally enhanced to high quality, to be able to actually use it in the film? (if not- I think they should!) Wouldn’t that be amazing, using original Star Wars footage in this new movie?!
You mean rotoscope Carrie in ANH and put the footage in RO? No way. It would pull me right out of the film to see recycled footage.
Really? Oh not for me - to me it would pull me more into this movie, seeing Leia as we all know her, actually in this movie. While I do hope they do this, I doubt it will actually happen.
