I was actually watching ROTS this week, looking for a good spot Spock could appear. The empty chair in the meeting room on the Tantive might work if a shot of Spock sitting at his console at a simalar angle can be pulled from somewhere.
The camera doesn’t move for this shot, which lasts six seconds. The empty chair doesn’t appear in any other shots either.
Alternatively, there could simply be a random cutaway to this shot from Star Trek V, as if Spock is reacting to the conversation on the other side of the room?
