What a cool idea. I may hijack this a bit. I have a 2.35 screen home theater so I think I’m going to take your approach and format everything for scope. To clarify, the HD clips would fill my screen top to bottom and side to side and the SD clips would fill the screen top to bottom and have pillar boxing on the sides. I did this for the classic THX Wow demo some time back. Lost my drive 😦 But seriously, what a cool idea man. Kudos.

Great job on this version of “From Star Wars to Jedi”! Definitely the best version I’ve seen of this great documentary.

I was wondering if you were planning on making some of the changes or “upgrades” (black pillar bars; removing the Ad; using the Laserdisc or HD clips from other sources, etc.) people have suggested earlier about this project?

Here is my idea for this:

1. 4:3 Pan and scan for the movie footage for HD movie footage and consistent aspect ratio
2. Japanese LaserDisc and VHS combination for highest quality behind-the-scenes footage without Japanese subtitles
3. Lossless LPCM digital audio from schorman’s Star Wars LaserDisc audio archive.
4. Video should be in 4:3, not 16:9 with black bars.

Somebody just needs to capture the Japanese laserdisc and release it. Isn’t it the best quality official release?

Why?

To keep the aspect ratio consistent like the way it was originally released.

I think it was on the second Star Wars: The Making of a Trilogy disc by Dr. Gonzo.

Looks like the torrent on the Spleen died, though.

So unless it’s on something like altbin or some generous soul reseeds it, maybe we can’t get it.

The best option would be for althor to upscale it like he did for all the other laserdiscs and use the schorman audio too.

I have the french ld and the Japanese ld. I can do a rip of them both and put them on the spleen. I’m off to the states for a few weeks for Christmas. I’ll try to remember it when i get back though 😉

I just need a DVD-5 VOB format version but also with PCM audio since I am making my own Despecialized DVDs loosely based on the UK VHS Executor set.

P.S: Can you also make some DVD VOBs for The Making of Star Wars… as told by C-3P0 and R2-D2, SP FX - The Empire Strikes Back and Classic Creatures since I can’t convert the versions from the Blu-ray since my PC is very weak and can’t convert and/or HD video let alone SD and my PC would crash if I do.

I’m not trying to be rude here but this is the second thread in the project section where you “want” all this stuff, specially done to your liking, but I don’t see you offering much in the way of support for the folks your asking to do it.

You haven’t been a member here terribly long. You might want to consider a new strategy, otherwise your requests are going to become background noise to others who might consider helping you some.

Just something you might want to consider.

Your idea seems good enough.

But I am trying to compile them all in preparation for my own Despecialized DVDs.

Thankfully for me, my DVDs will only have the Definitive Collection’s bonus features except for the art gallery but I will also put The Making of Star Wars, SP FX - The Empire Strikes Back, Classic Creatures and From Star Wars to Jedi.

He’s mainly referring to your tone. You come off as something of a spoiled child when you’re talking about how you “want this” or “need that”, whether you realize this or not. You are obviously passionate about the things that you talk about, and there’s not a thing wrong with that. It just gives some of us the wrong idea when you’re asking others to essentially “gimme gimme”. But I want to give you the benefit of the doubt since you seem like a nice guy on the whole. And I don’t mean to sound rude by pointing this out, by the way. This is just me trying to politely help you get the things you want done in a way that makes you look better in the end.

Anyways, I have plans for a Despecialized DVD-9 and I am now compiling the materials and I am currently learning the basics.

Not sure if I would actually do it, though and would some people want it despite the fact that there are already DVD-5 and AVCHD versions available?

My plans for my set are currently a DVD-9 and DVD-5 per movie (DVD-9 has the movie only and DVD-5 has the bonus features) and a DVD-5 for From Star Wars to Jedi.

It’s only a regular DVD for people with only regular DVD players or Blu-ray players without AVCHD support and MKV support but said people can burn DVD-9 discs.

I am not making my own thread for that yet since I am not sure if I will actually do it but would you want it or not?

Judging by their subsequent demand in another thread, for a restoration to be completed in time for Xmas, as if it were a matter of life or death, the advice has not been heeded.

Anyways, looking forward to this.
