Clone Wars toon - title crawl?

Author
Time
Is there anyone here that can write and make a title crawl for the Clone Wars toons?

I feel that once the Two Volumes are joined as a 2hr 18min movie (I'm merging them for myself and MAYBE as a torrent...) that it could use it's very own crawl...

I've also heard rumblings of there MAYBE being a Fan Edit (just a resequence of the chapters I believe) of the Clone Wars in the works IF this is the case a title crawl will be a MUST

That's a crazy idea Rik. You should just leave them the way Lucas and Tartovsky intended.

Greencapt: Yes. (waves hand) You don't NEED to mess with Lucas...

Rikter: I don't need to mess with Lucas.

Greencapt: (another wave) George always knows best....

Rikter: Yeah- George always knows best!

Greencapt: (does rock/scissor/paper with hand) And Greedo really DID shoot first....

Rikter: And... Greedo... rea....llly..... NNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

Clone wars is the only AV SW property I can think of that doesn't have a title crawl. Every movie and game has one. It is tradition, but it doesn't work too well with a three minute short. Perhaps it would with the "film" version Rik is making though.

To tell you the truth, I hate it when they attach a crawl to a game, I feel that they should be left to the movies only.

But for this CW DVD it might be a good idea.

I think the crawl is a bit out of place on something such as Rogue Leader, but what about a self contained Epic like KoToR. I think it was more than worthy of a Title Crawl.

Well, I know the Ewok movies didn't have a title crawl, but I don't know about the Droids or Ewoks cartoons. I can't think of any other SW property that doesn't have it though.

Here are a couple of fan-made crawls that were circulating around TFN after the Clone Wars came out last year. Keep in mind that these were designed for either the first season or first and second season stories only.

a).

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...

STAR WARS
THE CLONE WARS

It is a period of civil war. Rebel Separatists, led
by the treacherous COUNT DOOKU, clash with the newly formed ARMY OF THE REPUBLIC. The JEDI ORDER, sworn as
guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy, have
been drawn into the conflict.

SUPREME CHANCELLOR PALPATINE has ordered the deployment
of Clone Troopers throughout THE REPUBLIC. Jedi Master MACE WINDU has been sent to DANTOOINE, while Jedi Master YODA, OBI-WAN KENOBI and ANAKIN SKYWALKER meet
with Palpatine to discuss the assault on MUNNILINST.

Meanwhile, unbeknownst to the Jedi , Dooku travels to
the planet of RATTATAK, seeking a new ally with the
power to defeat the Jedi...

b).

Episode II ½
THE CLONE WARS

Chaos reigns throughout the galaxy. Despite
the efforts of the Jedi Knights and the Republic’s
CLONE ARMY, the Confederacy of Independent
Systems has gained an early advantage in its’
attempt to overthrow the Senate.

In an effort to turn the tide of battle, Supreme
Chancellor Palpatine has ordered the war
effort to focus on the commerce guilds bankrolling
and arming the Separatists.

Under the orders of his secret master, Darth
Sidious, Count Dooku has hired several
assassins, bounty hunters and crimelords to
join forces with the droid army and exterminate
their common foe – the Jedi Knights…

Maybe this will help inspire someone to create a title crawl for the whole series. I would love to see what kind of movie could be made now that all of the episodes are out! Anyone but me got the itch to see what can be done?

I just want to say that I like the Clone Wars just the way they are. However, I also like seeing what kind of fan edits/interpretations can be made from the same thing. We cool? Allrriiight...

Thats what I meant, things like KOTOR need a title crawl, but something like X-Wing or TIE Fighter does not, especially when they don't even tell a coherent story.

... I don't know. I like reading the crawl...

The opening crawl for Rogue Leader is bassically the same as the ANH crawl with the last paragraph changed to let you know that your just about to attack the deathstar.

The Crawl would be an awesome idea - I've never seen nor played any of the video games but if they have some crawls so should the toon

This is one of those times I wish we had a speachless stare Smiley.

You obviously have a decent computer, Rik, uploading bit torrents and all, right? Go out there and buy KoToR. It shouldn't be too expensive now!

I must echo Chaltab's comments. Knights of the Old Republic is an amazing game.

So is the sequel, Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords (assuming you can run the game and if you forgive Lucasarts and Obsidian Entertainment for leaving so much of the game on the cutting room floor).

You know, the "Special Edition" fully restored version of KoToR II would make a great, great, great, pre-order bonus for KoToR III!!!

I wondered about that one. If anyone here ever makes a DVD they should give it a title crawl, but in a parody sense, letting you know how much it's going to suck.

I made one long ago...what I'd do is cut the whole first chapter, and when it shows a starfield at the beginning of chapter 2, then all the ships coming in from hyperspace (on the new DVD anyway, probably to make the transition smoother) I'd add it...I say cut the first chapter because that is basically what the crawl is - Yoda's voiceover edited, basically.

STAR
WARS

CLONE WARS

The Clone Wars have spread
like fire across the galaxy.
More and more planets
succumb to the wicked Count
Dooku's will.

To act against these threats,
the duty falls upon the Jedi
to lead the newly formed Army
of the Republic.

As the heat of war grows, so
too grows the prowess of
ANAKIN SKYWALKER, one
most promising student of the
Force. . . .

Unfortunately I have no way of making a crawl, but that's my suggestion if you're combining both volumes as a two-hour movie.

I swear that crawl is familiar...

I know! It was the title crawl for Episode II that I saw on opening night and was completely different than all other showings of the movie ever. It was called Episode II - The Clone Wars and in it we found out that Palpatine was actually Anakin's father and Jar Jar was actually a sith...

What's sad is that someone might actually reply to this post and ask what other differences there were in my-one-time-only-VIP-screening of Episode II that never really happened.

Don't worry, I am happy to answer all questions

Yes, yes.. this is what I had foreseen

NOW, if I can find someone to make the crawl....

I was doing the "merged" version last night and the aspect ratio is different on the CN aired versions then on the official DVD. It looks like I will now have time to plan how I'll get the Title Crawl done.

Lack of weed didn't help matters....can't play games unless I'm smoking a joint...it's just sooo boring otherwise!

You noticed that too huh? I think that the problem is actually copy protection that is on DVD. I only say that because I tried other DVDs after I saw how stretched the picture became and it was native to the Clone Wars DVD only. It seems like it would be an easy fix, just an annoying one.

If I'm wrong about this please let me know. I would like to know what caused it to do that.

You wouldn't be referring to the anamorphic distortion, would you? Because that would be inherent in *all* anamorphic DVDs, not just that one.

Glad you liked my crawl, Rik. It's just the same thing Yoda says in the beginning, though, but hey, whatever works, right?

I've ripped other Anamorphic Widescreen DVDs and haven't had this problem. Like I said, it shouldn't be a big deal to fix, but I don't know why it comes out that way.

Instead of having the black bars at the top and bottom like it should, it stretches the image to fill the screen. None of my other DVDs have done that, so I don't know what causes it. I noticed that the DVD case says "Copy Protection" and since none of my other DVDs have that on there, I thought that might be the reason.

I don't know. Any thoughts?

This isn't a problem with my aspect ratio settings in my editing program, I know I have that set right. It rips this way off the DVD itself so that when I capture it as an .avi file with VirtualDub it is being captured stretched out.
