APRIL 2nd @ 12:00 AM WILL SEE THE RELEASE OF THE ROTS MERCHANDISE. WHO’S GOING TO BE THERE ???

BTW, SOME STORES HAVE ACTUALLY PUT OUT THE ROTS MERCHANDISE BY MISTAKE ALREADY. THE LOCAL SUNCOAST HAS DONE THIS AS WELL AS ONE OF THE LOCAL WAL-MART STORES.

I think a grand total of 2 people in this county actually like Star Wars, so I think I'll wait until the following morning.

Besides, I have to see the late show of Sin City.

Does the official Star Wars cereal have anything in it?

You mean other than being fortified with the USDA recommended amount of Force goodness?

My local Wal-marts have already stocked and sold out of the ROTS toys 3 times now!!

I've seen the toy lightsabers stacked 15-24 high then the next day they are all gone... I've even seen two collectors almost go to blows over the Darth Vader figure a few days ago!

Hmmm.

I guess that's one thing that bugs me, as an adult, about the direction the fandom has taken and more importantly the direction George Lucas has taken (judgment reserved for EPIII for now):

When I was a kid, the OT was a fun series of movies targeted at adults (for the most part). As kids, we wanted to be a part of that world and bought the toys to play with.

With the PT, the movies (by GL's own admission at various times) is targeted towards kids, and yet the only people I've seen buying the merchandise are adults who are either collectors or just nostalgic peope who loved SW as kids. The only kids that seem interested in the toys, etc (that I've seen at least) are the children of people like us who kinda push them into it.

Just some random thoughts for a Monday morning.

Same with my Wal-Mart. I actually saw one of the ROTS Wookie figures (no, not the preview Wookie Warrior). He actually had a name and the bubble graphics were slightly different. Surrounding him were about a dozen empty EIII figure pegs. Guess Wally World ain't playin' by the rules yet again, eh?

I went to the store and the Corn Pops they had in stock didn't even have lightsaber spoons in them!

Yet you bought them anyway because you Gotta Have Your Pops (TM).

Palpatine corrupts ANOTHER innocent!!! MMwwhwhahahahaaaa... THAT'S how the Jedi were eliminated: First the clone troops hid their lightsabers and THEN, after buying Corn Pops to get replacements (after all, everyone knows that where sabers come from) they get stiffed and don't find them in their boxes. Pops indeed....

I WENT TO ONE OF THE THREE WAL*MARTS IN THE METROPLEX THAT WAS HAVING THE "48 HOURS OF THE FORCE." EVERYBODY GETTING ROTS MERCHANDISE WAS PRETTY COOL ABOUT PASSING THINGS AROUND EXCEPT FOR ONE CRUST OLD, WHITE TRASH WOMAN WHO ALMOST GOT MY FOOT UP HERE ARSE. ANOTHER GUY THAT WAS THERE HAD HIS SIX YEAR OLD SON PUSHED OUT OF THE WAY BY HER. I WAS SURE THAT HE WAS GOING TO DUMP HER BODY SOMEWHERE. I WOULD'VE HELPED WITH IT. I THINK EVERYBODY THERE WOULD HAVE AS WELL. I GOT MOST OF THE FIGURES ON THE LIST THERE, BUT I WENT TO ANOTHER WAL*MART WHICH WAS MUCH CLOSER TO HOME. TO MY SURPRISE THEY WERE JUST STOCKING THE SHELVES WHEN I ARRIVED THERE AT 1:00 AM. I WAS THE THE ONLY ONE THERE FOR THE SW TOYS. I GOT MY PICK OF ANYTHING THAT I WANTED. IT WAS @#$%ING COOL !!!

I went in the morning yesterday and it looked as if nothing had been touched, no figures missing off any of the pegs, they must have had at least 6 of every kind that they have out right now(except Aayla, which was oddly missing ).

Like I said, no one except like two people buy these things around here.

Our store was totally picked over. Pretty much the only thing left were the Obi-Wan figures. I guess no one wanted those. I got my Darth Tater though, so I'm happy

I checked my local Wal-mart and Toys R Us. Being in Modesto has some advantages. Most of the characters are fully in stock. That and we get the film a week early.

I was at my Wal-Mart a couple days ago and they had absolutely everything. To be honest, none of it really inspired me at all. I bought nothing. How sad is that? A couple of the Lego toys bordered on semicool. But otherwise.

Anyone notice just how much of a "link between" Lucas is trying to make with some of the characters and vehicles. The AT-RT? The Speeder Bikes? Heck even the Biker Scouts look almost exactly the same save for their armor coloration (which would have been much more ideal on Endor).

I think they might have even used the same molds for those that they did for the POTF versions back in 1997.

I thought the Republic gunship was probably the best thing out, I don't remember them selling one of those back when Episode II came out.

There was one. I wanted to get it. The ARC Fighter looks pretty cool. If I buy anything, it will probably be the ships. I've kinda stopped buying the figures. They just keep getting worse and worse.

I cut my toy buying WAAAYYYYY back within the last couple of years, but I'd probably have the whole set of 'Unleashed' figs if they weren't so darned expensive! I know they are made for collectors, but still!!! They cost more than a DVD at most places!!!

The ARC fighter is pretty cool. But I think I like the Lego version better. It's got a little twist knob that opens the wings.

The character that has the best mold for this cycle of ROTS toys is definitely Count Dooku, he is one of the finest detailed 3 3/4 SW figure I have ever seen.

I don't know if he is the AOTC mold or not, but I don't think he is, he seems to have much more articulation than I remember the AOTC figures having.

As for the Unleashed, I've found most of my collection of the figures(consisting of a measly 5 because I've just recently got into them) for 16 dollars or less.

Hardly enough to break the bank IMO.

But the Gentle Giant statues are another story.

I'm not much into Legos myself. Still I doubt I'll be getting anything. I had a Vader Battler in my hands. Which surprised me since the Target I was at was picked near clean of action figures(they were 5 bucks). Still, I couldn't bring myself to commit the ten bucks. I've got anime cons to attend. I'm hoping to snag a 1/48 Yamato Valkyrie, which are far more expensive than ten bucks.

This just had to be posted. I got this image and snippet of the review from my buddy Michael at mwctoys.com. First, check out the picture, then, read his review of the sculpt. It's just too damn funny.

1:6 scale Darth Sidious...

Quote

Sculpting - **1/2
This is such a confounding figure. Why? Because the sculpt is so good - and yet so bad.

The detail work on the head sculpt is great. The hair, the Shar-Pei skin, the scale of the head, all great. There's no softness to the sculpt either, with deep, sharply cut detail work. So how come it's so bad?

Good God, just look at that expression! I'm assuming this was supposed to mimic the picture on the box, with the evil grin of Sidious peering out from under the cloak. Ignoring that the photo makes him look a tad too much like the Grinch, the actual expression on the figure looks nothing like this.

What it does remind me of is my old Uncle Wilbur when he found out it was Jell-O night at the rest home. Oh, he's happy all right, but not in a "I'm an evil master of the universe!" sort of way. No, it's more of a "Hmmm, I wonder if I can get some marshmallows in my hot chocolate...you know, I really love marshmallows in my hot chocolate." sort of expression.

Often I mention situations where a concept is great, but the execution ends up flawed. Here is the more rare reverse case - the execution of the sculpt is great, with artistic talent and detail, but the concept of this goofy expression is completely flawed.

Here's the whole review...
