AKA the Dread Pirate Roberts scenario.
Hopefully not going that far. One time is plenty to fix what George did, but I don’t generally like the idea that a character (James Bond comes up a lot) is just a title that’s “passed down” from person to person over generations. It just seems silly to me.
This is kinda my dichotomy with this scenario: As much as I don’t like it, the Lucas Clone Boba is now the real Boba Fett. There’s no reason for someone else to take Clone Boba’s name if he’s lame enough to be killed by someone else and has no reputation, but if Clone Boba is good enough and has enough reputation for someone to want to kill him, he is Boba Fett being usurped by an imposter.
They’d have to sell the “Legend of Boba Fett” to me pretty hard for it to be acceptable, because there’s no precedent for a Dread Pirate Roberts situation. Jango’s clone was the first Boba Fett (you could argue that his kid was the first “Boba Fett” in a long time but then why is Jango also a Fett and why didn’t he just take the name Boba himself?) and for there to even be a legend, Clone Boba would have to become the Boba Fett, at which point why even kill him off except to say that the Empire Boba is a different person (which is just not likely after they spent all the time and money to redub his OT lines).
You’d have to have at least two movies to show Clone Boba becoming the best bounty hunter in the galaxy, and then another movie to show how someone else (you could just alter the Jaster Mereel origin for the story) got better and offed him.
As much as it sucks, I just don’t see a way to salvage the character.
