Also I’m not a fan of the “the Emperor is soooo evil that…” thinking so we’ll have to agree to to disagree on that one. The Emperor may be powerful but he is not some demi-God of the Force who is so powerful he can literally pull powers out of his ass.

It is not because “the Emperor is soooo evil that…”, it is simply because he happened to be born extraordinarily exceptionally gifted.

That could easily be applied to Vader as well as he is a Skywalker.

And yes that is why he could “pull powers out of his ass” while no one else could. It is like Einstein “pulling” theory of relativity “out of his ass” while no one could. We haven’t had a scientist of his calibre since Newton and Galileo and it doesn’t seem we will have one in near future either. Do you get it now?

No matter what the achievement someone would have discovered or achieved the exact same thing eventually. Also…apples and oranges man.

Well, obviously lighting is a force ability you can learn over time. So why assume only one person throughout history could do it?

Because nostalgia

Yes, I have a nostalgia for non-stupid things.

Stupid? Possibly. Corny? Definitely.

Well at least you admit the things you argue for are corny. However, I must insist they are stupid.

Star Wars has always been corny is some facets but having the Emperor be uber powerful just cause is too much corn for a guy like me.

Obviously swimming really fast is an ability you can learn over time, so why assume only Michael Phelps is the only person throughout history to win 23 gold medals in swimming?

Answer: because it’s really, really hard.

Marc Macguire broke every one of babe ruths records. So someday there may be someone that breaks Emporers records. Maybe in those bad 100 years there were sith lords that knew lightning attacks too.

Maybe. I’m not arguing there can’t be someone else in the universe strong enough (and willing enough) to use force lightning, I’m arguing that there’s nothing in the OT to show that anyone else could do so.

Also, it’s “Mark McGwire.”

I believe that’s achieved at 50%. You’re now at mid-Frink status.

No one said it’s a bad thing either. You also getting a free topping, but the topping is also cursed.

So that’s why the doll’s trying to kill me and the toaster’s been laughing at me.

I think it makes sense that Force users are taught certain Force Abilities but their application of said ability is minuscule and as they continue to train more their power with that ability will grow. I know that’s not exactly how it was in the OT and TFA where Luke was able to use telekinesis without any training in that ability, was able to pick up an X-Wing (IN THEORY) and Rey was able to use a mind trick without any training whatsoever that we know of but it makes the most sense. I don’t think people should be barred from using Force Abilities unless they’re extremely weak in the Force like Darovit.

Ok, so you agree he might not be as powerful as the Emperor. Then why is it so hard to understand how he might not be able to do something that the Emperor can do as a result?

Because Darth Vader is a master of the Dark Side. Let’s say if Vader in the OT was as competent as Darth Maul, Kylo Ren or even the Inquisitors from Rebels I can understand why you would say that as they are nowhere near Sidious but the gap in power between Vader and Sidious isn’t that big to have certain abilities be completely alien to him. Higher proficiency maybe but not entire abilities.

It’s like saying I’m stronger than you but I shouldn’t be able to lift more weight than you.

It’s a little more complicated than that but I see what you’re trying to say.

EDIT:

Nostalgia has to do with it in Dominic and Impscum’s case. Maybe not yours but theirs.

Nostalgia doesn’t have anything to do with it. It’s a legitimate interpretation if you watch the OT films. In them, the force is a mystical energy. It’s a fantasy so it’s really not hard to understand why someone more powerful knows a certain move. Think even something like Kill Bill with the five point palm exploding heart thing. You can be a master and still not know everything.

The problem is the PT made the force more rigid and narrow. Dooku = sith so he must have lightning. But it shouldn’t be a simple as that. And no it doesn’t fucking mean that the Emperor is an OP demi-god. Just means he knows an ability Vader does not.

Like I said if Vader was shown to be of a different caliber in terms of his combative prowess I’d get that. He’s a master he should at least be able to use Force Lightning. He shouldn’t however be able to use it as well as Sidious.

Think even something like Kill Bill with the five point palm exploding heart thing. You can be a master and still not know everything.

That analogy doesn’t work because Pei Mei didn’t teach Bill because he found him unworthy of such a technique. Not because he physically unable to do it.

The problem is the PT made the force more rigid and narrow. Dooku = sith so he must have lightning. But it shouldn’t be a simple as that. And no it doesn’t fucking mean that the Emperor is an OP demi-god.

Bullshit, Maul didn’t use Force Lightning.

Just means he knows an ability Vader does not.

Not knowing an ability and not being able to do it are two different things.

I wouldn’t even say “knows” as it implies it can be learnt. Emperor simply has an extremely rare given ability/potential that Vader does not. It is like getting an impossible mutation of an eye that allows eagle eye quality sight. Those who don’t have such mutation simply cannot have that kind of sight ability, not matter how hard they may try to “train” their eyes.

So in theory before Disney bought Lucasfilm Fox may have planned a x-men star wars crossover where the Emperor was proven to be a mutant? And maybe Magneto was using the force?

So if you exclude the prequels and gotta have some explanation for Emporer’s appearence that would fit right in.

Yeah the Emperor was just born with the right kind midichloreans to use Force Lightning and Anakin wasn’t it’s a simple concept.

Yeah that seems a bit too biological which is the reason he doesn’t the fact Leia is Force Sensitive.

EDIT:

A simpler reason is to assume that The Emperor is the evilest and bestest Sith to have ever existed and that’s why he can use Force Lightning and that’s why his eyes are yellow. He is that evil.

Maybe his species just has yellow eyes, like cats.

He’s human but he’s so evil that his evilness can circumvent biology. He’s just that evil.
