They digitally covered up Natalie Portman for the Your Highness trailer. 😉

I really miss there was no room for a “Slave Padmé” scene in the PT…

Duracell sock confirmed.

Actually, I’m one of the few heterosexual men out there who isn’t really turned on by Slave Leia.

Same. I think it’s because the films were so ingrained in my mind before I ever had romantic feelings that my asexual childhood feelings toward slave Leia have remained all the way to my adult life.

So to me, the outfit is just another way Jabba’s making her uncomfortable.

I thought the whole Slave Leia thing was just nerdy guys just wanting their girlfriends to wear the metal bikini in the first place? 😉

I think this nails it for me as well. I never saw Leia in a sexual light, even in the bikini.

Convincing a girlfriend to wear that outfit would be really weird to me. But then, bringing anything like that into the bedroom doesn’t make any sense to me.

Keep Circulating the Tapes.

It’s called spicing up the relationship I think? 😉

I guess some people need to do that.

Hang around a seasonal Halloween shop, and watch how many people head for the “sexy” costume aisle. 😉

I hope they don’t do that to Rey.

By the way Han shot first.

I know why people do it, I’m not stupid. It just doesn’t make sense to me.

“does make sense”, “does not make sense” are probably the 2 worst sentences I keep reading around. It simply was a RedLetterMedia joke once…

No, the worst sentence is “Daisy Ridley made a squirrel face at the idea of The Force being real and it was stupid.”

But you’ve only read it once or twice, not on every page of every thread (and it wasn’t in those exact terms anyway).

I agree with Dom’s earlier post. Also, I don’t think Rey will get any slave outfit. IIRC Fisher told Ridley “don’t ever let them put you in the slave outfit” or something along those lines.

Good. Since 2/3 of the other main female characters were sexualized it would be refreshing to see one that doesn’t get the same treatment. She can still have a romance but keep her attire PG.

I would think (or at least hope) that Rey being the main character of the sequel trilogy would be reason enough for the studio to let her retain her dignity. At least The Force Awakens clearly respected her enough to not use her for any blatant fanservice.

Are you serious ? Every piece of dialogue when she’s with Han and with the Falcon aren’t fanservice by your books ?

By the way: Padmé wasn’t sexualized either, although she was hot. It would be impossible to sexualize Rey.

Yeah because having Padme’s midriff expossed for like 1/2 of the movie isn’t sexualizing her.

EDIT:

Also other than Rey’s initial reaction when she learns the person who stands before is Han there is no fan service in their interactions.

She’s good looking and has a beautiful body, so even if she was wearing a burka people would still think she’s sexualized. I wouldn’t say the same about Ridley…

It wasn’t just because Natalie was hot. Her outfits exposed her midriff and her shoulders at times where it was extremely unnecessary.

Ok we get it you have this vendetta against Daisy. You don’t have to keep spelling it out for us lol

As dumb as that outfit is, at least it’s an outfit. The one where she is wearing a full outfit and teenaged-boy Georgie decides to have her midriff exposed by an animal clawing at it is even worse.

Hopefully this time the deleted scenes include something “more meaningful” that can be inserted in future edits. But there will probably be just more 10 second snippets with timecodes etc, haha! I’m just wishing for almost anything to replace / alter the Rathtar scene. 😛

I like the way you think… 😉

I’d like to see more scenes spent on just the characters, their background, their dream and struggle, but I doubt there are any. A nice addition could be been something related to Ren and his table of ashes.

Worst of all having her be sexualized doesn’t have any messages or payoffs for Padme’s character. When Leia was put in the gold Bikini she at least was able to choke the life out of the being that oppressed her.

Since we’re on the topic of unnecessary sexualization in Star Wars…the shots of Anakin without his shirt on counts as sexualization as well.

It doesn’t have to be anything super overt. It could just be Storm Troopers gossiping about Kylo’s peculiar habits.

:\ That would be a “bummer”. I’d rather see Ren pouring Lor San Tekka’s ashes on his table while thinking over his death.

1: Obviously not the kind of fanservice I was referring to.
2: Sure. It is physically impossible for Daisy Ridley to be sexualized. She has the mythical power of Anti-Objectification, preventing her from ever being in a revealing outfit and magically preventing any camera-angles that could potentially accentuate her features.
