Oh, I’m sure they hate all sorts of Japanese media regardless of specifics, and they banner it under “anime”. I’m not saying their disdain for Japanese animation is just an act.
I just think they are smart enough to realize what you are saying, but use their hate for most Japanese animation to keep their minds closed on the matter and state it as fact that anime sucks, just because they haven’t seen any Japanese animation that they have enjoyed in adult life.
