However. HKFlix.com is good for finding region-free players, albeit sometimes expensive ones. If you have a local Chinatown, that may be your best bet for a region-free player.

But they have a hell of a deal on the Sharpe DVD collection, its 300 here in the states and even though you have to air-mail it here it only costs like 130 bucks.

You're a Sharpe fan, too, Sessler? The price of the DVDs are ridiculous, so I probably won't invest in them any time soon, but I'm debating buying the soundtrack on Amazon.co.uk sometime soon. So, have you read any Bernard Cornwell?

The set is ridiculous in Region one but the individual movies cost like 10 bucks a piece, go figure.

I have the first three R1 discs and the transfer sucks ass, I'd never pay 300 bucks for the US set.

The region 2 DVDs(one of which I have shipping today) are actually digital transfers and they have two movies in each case(on the same disc or two discs I don't know). But they cost about 10 pounds used(about 23 dollars with shipping and handling).

Anyway, back to your question. I haven't been into Sharpe for long, but now I'm hooked. I've listened to the Audio book versions of Sharpe's Tiger and Sharpe's Triumph and read Sharpe's Havoc, Sharpe's Trafalgar, and now I'm on Sharpe's Prey(in addition to seeing Sharpe's Mission, Fortress, and Revenge).

I've been reading Cornwell's stuff since 1997; that's why I asked. I don't think I've yet read one of his books that I disliked.

You're going to have to buy a region-free player to watch your Sharpe set, aren't you?

The DVD player should be no problem.

BTW, have you read the "Grail Quest" books?

One DVD at a time.

Only 6 more and 130 bucks to go.

Damn, and I have to save up for Celebration III too.

I have, and I loved every minute of them. I was so taken with the first book that I had to break down and buy the last two in hardcover when they came out, which I don't typically do. The climax of the whole trilogy was so dark and brutal that I can't wait to read it again.

Hmm, I'll see if I can find them off of amazon when I get the money.

Any news on a LOST DVD?

Thats not the TV show, its the thriller starring Dean Cain.

I know you're looking for the Dean Cain Lost, but in terms of the TV show, for those interested (me especially), it is coming out on Sept. 6 and will be a seven-disc set. And, from what I've heard, J.J. Abrams is going all out on the extras disc. I'm so stoked.

I heard about that, supposedly they might even put in a special episode exclusively for the dvd set.

Either way, FOX has got my money for that.

It was a repeat episode. Commercials on TV and radio kept hyping the two-hour finale making it sound like it was this week. Turns out they've still got three regular episodes (May 4, 11, and 18) and a special episode (April 27) left before the two-hour finale on May 25. Pissed me off when I found out. Makes a lot more sense though. Couldn't figure out why they would air the finale for one of their most popular shows in a non-Sweeps month.
