Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP 2
2/10
Well that was a turn for the worse!
I know, right? When that album first came out I didn’t like it and couldn’t finish it. This was only my second time playing it and I hated every song, except for the hook on one track. Em needs to either start doing drugs again or stop making music again.
Don’t do drugs, unless you’re with me.

Border Reiver is a great driving song. So Far From The Clyde always gets me right in the heart. Hell, all the songs are good.

I’ll have to check that out! I don’t know much of his solo stuff.

His solo stuff is similar to Dire Straits (which makes sense considering he was the core of Dire Straits), but also definitely its own thing. I highly, highly recommend it.

Do playlists count for this? I kinda feel like they could.
Right now I’m going through a playlist I made up of all the songs from the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series (up to Underground, which was the last one I really got into). It’s great when I want a shot of nostalgia from the 2000s.
Currently Playing:

Oh man, these games had some great songs.
Ceci n’est pas une signature.
A playlist is kinda the opposite of an album.
Also no art.

Not as good as the previous album (Dire Straits), but still has some fine moments.

It’s a good score. Has a kinda “western movie” feel in places. It’s awfully prequelly, though, especially March of the Resistance. I dunno what it is about John’s progression as a musician, but his Star Wars scores have lost a lot of their OT je ne seis quoi ever since The Phantom Menace. I’m sure everyone knows what I mean, though.
It’s definitely Star Wars though, in that it has the feel. I particularly enjoy Rey’s Theme, and I also get some big The Ice Planet Hoth vibes (I think it’s the original Echo Base reveal cue, which I will forever associate with Shadows of the Empire thanks to it being the menu music N64 game) from the one motif in Follow Me.
I wish the music played a larger role in the films these days.

Essential listening for any 80’s fan. I love my Japan pressing of this album.
