HSvIJ, while the spidey cartoon didnt follow the comic exactly it did do a fairly good job (from what ive read about the actual spidey comics, havent actually read the comics but a good deal of info is available at http://www.spiderfan.org/ ) in keeping the characters origins correct, it did swap hob goblin's appearence with green (green appeared first). There were also multiple greens (4) and also multiple hob goblins (also 4 according to spiderfan.org) you can read about the various origins of the characters at that site. Actually as far as timeline it might have been more online than the movie, especially in dealing with Peter and MJ's relationship.

chaltab, harry never changed from the green goblin to the hobgoblin. and in the cartoon Norman never actually died but he dissapeared in a time/space vortex (same one that took MJ) and only showed up after that as a voice in harry's head.

more on topic though, i hope they dont do Green Goblin II or even the Hob Goblin as the villian in the next movie because i think it will end up being too similar to the first story. If they are going to do venom, which in my opinion would be a good story, they should have done more character development with Eddie Brock in the second movie to establish his hatred of peter/spider-man because to do the venom saga properly i dont think 2 hours will be enough time. They have been throwing mention of Doctor Conners so maybe we'll get to see the lizard, that could make a good story as well. I dont know why they are making such a big deal out of keeping the next bad guy a secret, if they werent so concerned with that they could have worked more backstory/character development of the next villian into the previous movie which would allow for them to already have the villians motives for hating spider man so much established.

as far as xmen, if they do the Phoenix sagas (which it very much seems they are going to do) I hope they dont try to compress both into one movie because that will be too much for one movie. Only way it would work is to not actually have Jean go totally evil and just make it an internal struggle with her new found powers. As far as putting wolverine into cyclops' place i sure hope they dont do anything that stupid, it would be way to far off the continuity, also its was established in the second one that Jean's choice was Cyclops not Wolverine.
