General comments…
Except for Nemesis, these are all enjoyable sci-fi flicks. Even the duds are still fun to a degree.
I forgot how solid the TOS cast movies are. The stories are great and I loved the the three-film arc with Spock. And holy hell they would never make a movie like Voyage Home nowadays. No villain, no action, all plot, barely even set in space, with some goofy comic relief? Studio execs would die laughing if you tried to pitch that script today.
TNG movies suffer from ridiculous writing. The cast did the best they possibly could with what they were given, but they deserved such better. You know shit be bad when the best film includes a scene of Picard in a white tux shooting a 1930s style machine gun at a Borg in some hologram simulation bullshit.
NuTrek has been solid so far. Abrams’ biggest flaw is overuse of “homages” (<-- sarcastic air quotes) to Wrath of Khan. But he damn sure knows how to make a fun flick.
Oh also I highly recommend TM2YC’s fanedit of TMP, “Star Trek: Reunion”. Best fanedit I’ve seen in a while.
