What happened here seems to be a variant of Poe’s Law, something like: "No matter what ridiculous things someone says sarcastically, there is someone else who says the same things, but is completely serious about them."
You really can’t blame people, who don’t know you at all, for not getting a joke, that could otherwise be a completely serious post. Had you said the same thing as a direct response to a newbie being demanding and ungrateful, it would have been a great joke, on its own, your intentions were not very clear.
Well, OK. I get that snark doesn’t always translate well online.
But if people don’t get the joke, or don’t think it’s funny, the response should be, I don’t know “I don’t get the joke” or “I don’t think it’s funny” or at best, “Are you serious? Adywan will finish when he’s ready”.
By going straight to exploding heads, hysteria, personal insults and name calling is just kind of lame, and probably why a lot of people avoid this thread. Though looking at the history of some of the people involved (i.e. TV’s Frink), it seems that some of you (and I mean that rhetorically) are perpetually jumping from one spat to the other, looking to be pissed off or annoyed.
And while I don’t post much, it’s not exactly like I’m new here. I’ve been registered for years and have commented from time to time.
