Sequels that should never be... — Page 21

I remember the cartoon. At the end of the show, Cristopher Lloyd as the Doc would perform a pseudo-experiment slightly related to the episode.
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

Still, I'd like to see it nonetheless, if for no other reason than to make my own judgement on it.

don't waste your time. it stank.

If you ask me they should have stopped with the first film. The 1st was great. 2 and 3 were not so great.

Uh-oh, Warb. You just pissed off the resident BTTF buff.

BTW, I liked the Third one.

"Nee-kay, what is that? Some sort of Injun talk or somethin'?"

"Hey, Frisbee, far out."
"What was the meanin' of that?"
"It was right in front of him."

Sequels that should never be? My vote goes to Napolean Dynamite 2.
Which is the more foolish, the fool (the OT) or the fool who follows (the PT)?

I agree, it was a sleeper hit in the first place, lets just let it go.

sleeper hit are the greatest along with cult hits

Yeah, and they lose all of their charm once they are picked up and marketed and written to be "blockbusters"

Well, to each their own. I just think that BTTF part 2 and 3 pale in comparison to the 1st one. The 1st one is a classic.

I need to see the beginning of 1 and 2, (I've seen the ending of both, several times)

The ending of one is the beginning of two, exactly(except for the actor playing jennifer and doc having a crazy look on his face after Marty says "What are we, assholes or something?")

When Marty went back to the old west, there were essentially two DeLoreans there, right? Why didn't they just use the gas from Doc's DeLorean to fuel Marty's DeLorean?

Didn't they bust the fuel lines?

Yeah, in Marty's car. But Doc's car still should have had gasoline. Now it's debateable that Doc's car didn't need gas because it had Mr. Fusion. But I thought Mr. Fusion powered the flux capacitor, not the engine itself.

Wouldn't you drain the gas if you were to put the care instorage? Doc wouldn't save it either, because he didn't expect Marty to come back for him.

For the record, my angry face at Warbler was there before he added his comment about the movies. I was mad he was telling me not to waste my time with the cartoon... But I'll waisted if I want too, blast it.

And yes, the first one is a classic, but I like all three of them alot. And you know the best movies come in threes.

My wife and I agree with you, Warbler. And that's the reason we haven't purchased the box set. We only want 1. Not that we hate 2 and 3. Actually, I thought 3 was okay. 2 I could do without. But the original is all you need.

Am I the only person in the WORLD that prefers BTTF part 2?

No, I did.

I'm not sure now. It is the least funny of the three, IMO, but I really love all the time travel mind busters and stuff, so I'm sort of torn.

And the rampant product placement for its own sake didn't bother you? It didn't the first time I saw it, but when I borrowed the DVDs from a neighbour a few years later, it stuck out like the CG in the AT (Altered Trilogy).

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

Hm... I think the product placement (which was there in the first film too) helped make it feel like a 'real' world. Parody or fictional brands not so much. I never really even thought of it as product placement; more as a nice way to see what the late eighties and early nineties thought future versions of existing companies would be like.

I kind of looked at the product placement in the same way Chaltab did... more like a comparison of what existed then and what will exist later. Not so much companies trying to get their products in a movie. Although I'm sure that's what it was.

What I hated was just how cartoony the film was. The hoverboard chase in the town square took what was a great scene in the original movie and dragged its memory through the mud ruining it entirely. Biff became a sad joke whereas he was a viable bully in the original film. Now, you look at him and his offspring and wonder how you could possibly be afraid of him/them. Even Doc Brown became annoying after a while.

Yeah, I was never a big fan of the second like I was of the other two. I hated the actress they got to replace the first movies Jennifer too.
