What type of DVD labels should I use?

To put on disc art, what brand/label do you use? What do you recommend?

you should not use adhesive disc labels, but instead use inkjet printable discs, with a direct-to-disc capable inkjet printer. or thermal printable discs with a thermal printer, but that is more expensive.

I know adhesive disc labels seem like an easy solution, but they can cause all kinds of issues, affecting both the devices used to play the discs, and the longevity of the discs themselves.

Yeah, I would agree 1000% that direct to disc is the best option, but in my case I already had a printer and a wife who said no way to a new one simply so that I could print some discs. So I went the not recommended route and used adhesive. So, if you have no other option and have to use labels, I would recommend Herma.

There are both super thin, but you CANNOT use the laser ones in an inkjet printer…tried it (my ignorance) and they will not work. So if your only option is labels, then I would recommend these; if you can pick up a Canon Pixma with direct print option, it is a far better way to ensure the longevity of your device and burned discs.

It costs more per disc but you could get a lightscribe drive,about $1.50 per disc and around 50 or 60 bucks for the drive, but they make cool looking discs. oh and it’s currently cd and dvd media only, no lightscribe blurays are available yet.

What direct on disc printer(s) would you recommand (for more that 1 disc at a time, if possible) ?

I just purchased a Pixma from Canon which has direct disc printing for a single disc at a time. It works great, but it is not the most user friendly device out there; but it is reasonably priced and does a great job, especially when using a quality blank disc.
