Slight change in pace for the conversation. Anybody have any experience buying from this seller for bluray cases or have another seller they’d reccomend?

I would love to eventually put this set in black cases as it looks really nice and would complement what they seem to be doing with the ST packaging. But so far this is the only place I’ve found that offers black, four disc cases. I’m just a little concerned because their site makes them seem a bit… how to put this… unprofessional. I’d rather not get screwed over for trying to get a slightly cooler look.

Of course the final covers will fit any 14mm spine (That seems to pretty much be the standard for 4 disc cases), but I still like the black look.

I recently use Casetopia.com and I am loving their prices and service. I live outside of the U.S. so Criterion wouldn’t ship to me. I got 3 Criterion cases, 3 PS3 cases and 3 standard 3 disc Blu-Ray cases for about $10 usd…I printed my covers out today and the Criterion cases make a big difference in my opinion…

Personally, I think it’s implied that most of us own the 2011 BD set since it’s a requirement to download the Despecialized Edition in first place, so why include the discs in this anyway?

Also, don’t discount the various BD50 options that NJVC provided, especially for the ROTJ/Trilogy Documentary disc.

Like I said, if you wanted to add the official discs to the set like in a case or a custom set for example. 😕

I don’t understand what you mean. Was it my idea about omitting the foreign dubs? Because we don’t have to, I was just brainstorming.

Everything is going alright thank you! I just unfortunately am very busy and don’t have very much time to work on this (and other projects) and browse the forums anymore. The project isn’t dead, it’s just very slow-going and quiet.

Wow it has been some time since an update, hasn’t it?

Well my schedule is still pretty busy out in the real world (schooling and work and bills and yadeeyada), but I have had a little time to work on this in the middle of all that craziness, and my schedule is starting to clear up just a tad. Hopefully that translates to me being more active on the forums than I’ve been as of late.

On to the status of the project. Basically, in the time since my last updates, the entire project has been pretty drastically overhauled. This is due to some things that have changed since I started this project.
One big thing that has changed is that njvc has released his phenomenal blu-ray set for Despecialized. This has affected my project in one major way: a bluray set now exists with extremely comprehensive bonus feature discs, making the bonus discs I was planning to produce somewhat superfluous.

What I plan to do instead is create bonus discs based on those that exist in the Lord of the Rings Extended Editions. That is, edit a lot of the bonus material that currently exists into essentially one long documentary, broken up into different sections that focus on various aspects of the filmmaking process (i.e. Writing, Production, Special Effects/ILM, Music & Sound, Critical Reception, etc.) Obviously Empire of Dreams has proven a great jumping off point for that.

I have also completely redesigned the menus. They’re not 100% complete, but they now match more closely in line with the TFA bluray menus and feature movie clips, unlike the previous menus I designed.

Despecialized is still the basis for the bluray, but may be swapped out in the future, as it was before.

The other details of the project are more or less untouched. It will still feature two separate discs for the movie itself, one for the Theatrical (1977 and 1981) versions, and one for the Special Edition (1997 and 2004) versions. The “workprint extended edition” is still to be created and featured on the bonus disc(s).

Here is a taste of what the new menu looks like.

The image on the screen is a bluray screenshot as a temporary stand-in for the eventual movie footage.

OMG, there are big space aliens outs… oh. 😛

all kidding aside, that’s not a bad idea.

I gotta say, this is an awesome menu concept.

Your new idea for the bonus features sounds incredible! Like, I’m talking really INCREDIBLE! I never thought of the bonus features being assembled that way.

Any news on this awesome project?

Hello

I have recently started (or thought about is more the word - trying to source the best versions of all I can find first) something similar, and wanted to know how this project is going?

I was tempted to include a fun disc: the fanedits (e.g adywan,s, forceghostrecon).

“It’s over anakin. I have the high ground.” After Darth Maul, Obi Wan should have known better.
