Frame Glitches while editing MP4 on Premiere Pro! Help!

I’m having a strange occurance doing a fan restoration where I’m editing from an H264 MP4 file in Premiere ripped from blu-ray. There’s a frame glitch that is not in the actual file when I play it through VLC. The glitch also appears when I export from Premiere.

I’m assuming it’s because it’s a compressed H264 MP4 file.

I’m running on a Mac. I’ve used MakeMKV to rip from blu-ray to create an MKV then I demux using MP4 tools and edit from the MP4 files.

Do I need to encode the file to an intermediate codec like Apple Pro Res to make it easier? Has anyone had this problem? Solution?

Yes, it could be due to a glitch reading the h264. Re-encoding as lossless or pro res could help. Just so you know, the m2ts from the blu-ray should be able to be imported directly into Premiere without remuxing. The few times I’ve had issues like what you’re describing, closing and restarting Premiere did the trick.
