HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, OT.COM !!! — Page 2

As we get older and closer and close to our horrible deaths, time seems to pass by faster and faster. I guess it's like Forrest Gump used to say (on mad Magazine): "Life is like a toilet paper roll: as closer you get to the end, it goes faster and faster..."
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

Can we give some sheep?

I recall Jay talking about making OT.COM back when I was posting like crazy on TF.n. In fact, my OT@yahoo.com email address was created specifically because of him and his petition. I'm one of the first 800 names on the list (it would have been sooner, but I was busy, and didn't realize how fast the list was growing at the time.

It wasn't until I got myself hooked on making my own LD transfer that I started posting here in earnest. (Which would explain why I have half the post count of ricarleite, even though I've been registered a year longer.)

Here's the thread I contributed to there.

[EDIT]

Hey, I found the site where one of the posters I was working with first contacted Jay. I was afraid this thread had been pruned, but here are some highlights.

The Digital Bits Editor suggested this site as a "homebase" for a petition
http://www.originaltrilogy.com/
it's not up yet but sending out email notifications when it is.

the quote they have on the site, gives me an idea too.

if you know a place to make a few bumper stickers print up a simple one that reads "Han shot first!"

Here it is

Hey Simon,

I was kind of blindsided by all this fervor. I registered the domain name and put up that teaser page months ago, but lost interest when I failed to garner the support I'd hoped to get. When Bill Hunt contacted me about the site and offered his assistance, I gladly accepted in the hopes of getting some attention. I didn't expect him to post the link on his site so quickly; I thought I'd have time to finish building the site first. I guess he got a bit excited. So I've been given some incentive to get the site up and running now ;-) We've managed to get over 1000 signatures on the petition in just one day. A good start, but keeping the momentum is the real challenge. I'm hoping to complete the site in the next few weeks.

I agree that whining and insulting Lucas are not the way to go about this. I'm concerned because I'm already seeing negative things being posted about Lucas and the SEs in the petition signatures. I suppose that's unavoidable, but recommendations for intelligent signature content will definitely be something I'll add to the site. We need to keep things civil.

Any assistance you can provide is more than welcome. I'll admit that I'm only a casual fan compared to many, but a fan who cared enough to buy two LD players just to watch the OT in widescreen, as well as dedicate a site to getting the OT on DVD. I'm just one guy, and this is going to be quite an undertaking, but it's a job I welcome. Once the site is up, I'll be looking for regular contributions from notable (and not so notable) members of the fan community so I can keep the content fresh and interesting. Maybe you have some folks in mind? Also, any traffic directed to the site and the petition is appreciated.

I'm interested in any ideas you might have, whether they're about promotion, content, anything. Let me know what you have in mind.

Later,
Jay

And check this one out...

Good stuff. It's now up to 12,000!

12,000 petition signatures in little over a week. Yeah, George. Guess no one really wants the OT, do they?

I should have figured that Jay would have made the 1st post. But still what thread was it in and what did it say?

Well, don't accuse me of being anti-foreplay. I'm all for it.

If the answer given was serious, then it was anti-foreplay...ic...

Yeah. In other words, that would have been a stupid first post.

If it's that important to you, why don't you PM Jay?
