..or just too bored with every new "exciting thing" Lucas feels he needs to add to his films. Why doesn't he try making a new film with this technology, rather than rely on the crutch of changing his old films?

Lucas may think he's done with the Saga, but I don't think he'll ever be successful with anything without the Star Wars label slapped on it for the rest of his career.
