Ex Machina- 5/5

Beatiful science fiction. And it was real science fiction too. It explores humanity and juggles so many interesting ideas along the narrative. It also is a thriller. The unknown answers to the questions they pose adds to the tension since we don’t fully understand the A.I. The performances were great. They felt authentic and were very engaging. It makes you constantly question who’s on who’s side, what side your on, who’s ethically right in the situation etc. Ex Machina for me is easily one of the best movies of 2015.

P.S. (SPOILERS BELOW!)

The ending of the film broke my heart. It was a gutsy move by the filmmakers of this movie and though it made me sooooooo sad it was a brilliant ending. It illustrates the danger of A.I perfectly by showing the huge deception by the A.I. But by doing so it had passed the test and was truly human. By the end of the film, the caged in A.I had escaped but locked in the humans. Again though, the ending BROKE my heart. Caleb didn’t deserve any of the shit he got. Nathan actually was kinda right. At first I cheered for Ava cause I thought her and Caleb were escaping. But then once I saw Ava ditching Caleb I realized Nathan was right. So should I feel bad or did he deserve it? Ugh, Ex Machina man. Again, an overall brilliant film.
