I’m back! The Black Hills were great!

It was a 12 hour drive to get down there, with lots of driving between, so we went through a lot of albums in the van CD player. The Monkees, Kansas, Boston, The Doobie Brothers, Supertramp, ZZ Top, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Joe Walsh, Bread, Styx, Rush , Santana, Maynard Ferguson, Peter Frampton; all that good stuff.

There was a huge storm that went over us on the drive there. At first, it was just watching lightning in the distance (which created one of the coolest experiences listening to Miracles Out Of Nowhere I’ve had), but then the rain started. It got so bad, we couldn’t see the road ahead, so we had to pull over on the highway and wait it out.

I didn’t get as many memories rushing back as I thought I would, but I did get a few 😄.
One of the things we did in the past times we’ve visited there was get some photos in cowboy/western gear. When we came to do that this time, I made a special request for this photo:

The person in the foreground is my brother (2 years my senior), and I’m in the background.

We also took a tour of Black Hills Cavern, and that was very interesting.

Needles highway was really cool too; I climbed a lot of rocks.

It was a fun week, though having our tent on an incline didn’t help…

…wow, this thread is empty.
