Man of Steel: D-
BvS Theatrical Edition: D-
WYSHS
I understand you on BvS. I’m curious to hear more about Man of Steel. My opinion is similar to Jon Schnepp and John Campea
I can’t speak for him, but Snyder’s version of the Man of Steel insults me to my very core. He’s an angry, whiny, sadistic fool with no regard for human life.
Man of Steel features a “hero” whose parents tell him that people suck and should possibly all just die. “Superman” takes that advice to heart and never tries to help anyone but his girlfriend in the final battle, and then in the aftermath of the chaos and destruction, he leaves to cause even more by smashing a satillite for fun, rather than helping the survivors of the mess he made.
BvS is actually kinda fun if I see it as a corny, over-the-top parody of Frank Miller. If I take it seriously, which Snyder wants me to do, it’s a disaster.
EDIT: I just realized that Snyder’s Superman is just weaker Dr. Manhatten. He only cares about the human he can have sex with, and the rest can die for all he cares.
Also, I don’t know who Jon Schnepp and John Campea are. Should I?
Jon Schnepp is a huge comic book/movie nerd who is on FilmHQ, Collider Movie Talk, and he hosts Collider Heros (comic book movie talk show). He’s funny and very knowledgeable in comic lore. He was a big fan of Man of Steel, hated the BvS theatrical cut and thought the Ultimate Edition was a vast improvement.
John Campea is head of FilmHQ, former head of Collider Movie Talk, and is on Collider Jedi Council (Star Wars Talk show). He loved man of steel, thought BvS was ok, and thought the ultimate edition was a small improvement.
I really recommend you check out shows like “Schmoes Know”, “Collider…Movie Talk, Heroes and Jedi Council”. They’re free on YouTube/Podcasts. Schmoes Know is on Fridays, Heroes is on Wedsdays, Jedi Councils on Thursdays and Movie Talk is on every weekday. I listen to them all on my podcasts app. Basically any movie fan, Star Wars Fan, Marvel Fan, or DC Fan would love their content. I’d bet most people on this site would really dig their shows.
And half the reason I listen is because of the people. Kristian Harloff, Jon Schnepp, John Campea and Mark Ellis are great!
