Does anyone know if it is possible to find or download the complete London Symphony recording of "Jabba the Hutt" (concert arrangement) by John Williams? I'm kind of partial to this piece (I play the tuba) and it's one of the things they left out on the SE soundtrack. I know there is a complete version, but it's not the London Symphony. And I know it exists because I found part of it on the anthology soundtrack.

Could someone fill me in on the availability of this?

What non-London Symphony version is it you know of?
I've got a Sony Classical CD where John Williams conducts the the Skywalker Symphony Orchestra. Jabba's Theme is 3:07.

Great! So there is a John Williams conducted version of the complete version.

Is this disc any good(ie worth the price)? I've always seen it on the store shelves and just thought it was a cheap knockoff of the official ones.

I don't recall what I got mine for, but I'm pretty sure it was less than that Amazon price.

If you find it for, say, $12-14, its a nice pickup. I was happy to get it because, as I said before, I don't own all 3 of the soundtracks.

If you've got all 3 of the 2-disk soundtrack sets, though, you're probably better off making your own compilation with a CD burner.

The Anthology Boxed Set has a track on disc 3 called "Han Solo Returns (At the Court of Jabba The Hutt)" ... is this the track?

The Anthology does contain the "Han Solo Returns" track. What they did is they took the original full length "Jabba the Hutt" recording, hacked it down to about 1:20 (instead of 3:07), and stuck it at the end.

My question was whether the full-length London Symphony recording was ever released.

The complete recording of Jabba the Hutt was probably recorded with the LSO in 1983 for inclusion on the album, but the whole thing has never surfaced. A portion of it was included on the original album and the Anthology as part of Han Solo Returns. That's the only part ever released though and it may be the only part that isn't lost.

The Sony Star Wars Trilogy album with John Williams conducting the Skywalker Symphony is a bust of an album. It's really tired sounding performances. If you want a better album, get The Star Wars Trilogy from Varese Sarabande Records with Varujan Kojian conducting the Utah Symphony Orchestra. That's a really great album! And if you want the best, seek out the Charles Gerhardt recordings of Star Wars, Empire and Jedi.

Actually, it is in 2 of his torrents. It is both in the Isomix RotJ and the TR47 RotJ.
And now, for your feature presentation:
The Classic Re-re-re-release of Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back.
In this version the word "WOOKIE" has been changed to "HAIR CHALLENGED ANIMAL" and the entire cast has been digitally replaced by Ewoks.

The ROTS soundtrack's bonus DVD (Star Wars: A Musical Journey) will feature the concert piece for Jabba the Hutt IIRC.
