I have the game...havent played it though so i cant verify the information. Its also at my parents (why i havent played it, havent done much with the games since college and even less since i graduated) but my brotehr did confirm for me that we have it. If anyone knows how to rip a game cube game ( what program i need and where i can get it) i can see about getting the video clip from the disc next time im home (April 9th)

-Darth Simon

edit, I dont even know if its possible to rip the game cube games, but my brother had a good idea, after that part is unlocked can capture it to the computer with a capture card. I dont have one but am planning on getting one...so anyone have suggestions on which card to get (inexpensive yet good)

Pardon my ignorance about Game Cubes, but I'm assuming the game is stored on a DVD? If so, can you copy it?

nintendo didnt use dvd, they used a proprietary disc format for the game cube. It has small (3" diameter i believe) discs that hold (i believe) 1.5 gigs.

according to ign
3-inch Nintendo GameCube Disc based on Matsushita's Optical Disc Technology

hence i dont even know if i a regular cd/dvd drive can read them.

so if its possible to rip the disc, or just the video from it, i can do that...otherwise i can still get the video on or around April 9th. Ill just need to get a capture card before then and take the whole system back with me.

You'd be better off searching the net for the game ROM from Gamecube emulation sites.

Is the file an MPEG-2 file on the disc itself, and can it be extracted? Not being a standard DVD format, I'm curious about the "rippability" of the file.

There are Gamecube rips all over torrent sites, try searching through some.

Better yet, we need to contact people who made those rips, to find out how they did it.

Time to e-mail Rikter.

i found some info on ripping game cube games...it requires a broadband adapter and the Phantasy Star Online game. Niether of which i have. and it seems that it just rips them to a rom/image type file that you can then play on your game cube over the network.

my brief search also didnt come up with any results for a ripped version of this floating around the net anywhere.

so basically dont know how much help ripping the game cube game would be (they designed the format to prevent pirating). Im thinking that a high quality video capture may be the easiest/best (at least the easiest way to do it with the best result) way to achieve aquiring the video.

-Darth Simon

ps. so if anyone has suggestions on a good video capture card that doesnt cost an arm and a leg (trying to keep it at a $50 cap if i can) i would appreciate it. I want one for other purposes but if i get one ill try and get a quality cap of this footage.

you don't need seamless branching to have a version of the movie that can play with or without a scene you wish to exclude from one version to another.

if you have maestro as a DVD authoring program, you can use what are called playlists. master the movie to include the scene and put it into maestro and mark that scene you wish to exclude as one of the chapters in the chapter list, then create two playlists. one of which includes this scene chapter, and the other that excludes it.

then on the menu you have two buttons. one plays one playlist, the other, the second one which includes your scene.

it's a super program and if you PM me we can talk on this further

Excuse my ignorance ... but isn't that basically seamless branching?

Unfortunately not.

Seamless branching allows you to to switch between different scenes of different lengths seamlessly.

So it would allow you to contain 2 versions of a film with different scenes, and link together the ones you need:

Chapter 1 (5 mins) | Chapter 2 (5 mins) | Chapter 3 (5 mins) would be version 1.

Chapter 1 (5 mins) | Chapter 2 (15 mins) | Chapter 3 (10 mins) would be version 2.

DVD Maestro would allow you to drop Chapter 2, or play Chapter 3, then 2, then 1 although perhaps not seamlessly.

The other name for Seamless branching is Multi-Story which kind of makes more sense. Remember that Multi-angle is clips of the same length (lightsabre changes between SW77 & SW04) and Multi-Story / Seamless Branching is clips of different lengths (I'm not sure I can thing of a Star Wars related example!)

I'll be using the playlist feature to accomplish this. I agree, it'll be much easier than seamless branching.

Spent the past few days re-editing AOTC, using a number of MF's edits in TCW as well. My result was a mess though. It looks like it has something to do with 2:3 pulldown, as frames are either being dropped or repeated (I'm not sure which, but I think it's the latter). Gonna take a break for a few days and maybe regroup from scratch. Ugh!

If you are combining MPEGs from different sources, then that could be your problem. You are better off recreating MF's edits yourself, and working exclusively with the AOTC DVD.

I have Rebel Strike...anyone know how to unlock that video? What mission should I complete to do so?

EDIT: Nevermind, I found it. The video is decent quality. Of course, it isn't as crisp or clean as the New DVDs are. Also, the old Anakin images are not included in it either.

MBJ, thanks for the tip. I'm gearing up to do my own Ep 1 and Ep 2 from the sources. ANH still sits on my HD waiting for the saber to be fixed. Ugh.

Anyhoo ... I like the new sig.

Hey, it's something (especially the music.) If you could rip a copy somehow, we'd be very grateful.

"Also, the old Anakin images are not included in it either. "

That's okay, we've got that covered already.

Oh, my "sig" was someone's post at TF.n (I lurk sometimes.) I thought it was pretty damn funny myself.

I captured it, but the capture seems alittle dark.

Also, I don't have any upload space so if anyone wants it, they will have to get it in email and upload it to for everyone else.

I may do a different capture later on with a s-video output from the Gamecub. I had to use the standard RCA jacks. I'll go to gamestop and see if they have an svid chord for cheap.

It's about 15 MBs. I am going to have to recap it. It is WAAAAY too dark and TMPGENC doesn't do a very good job of brightening it.

If there are any specific settings you would like me to use in TMPGENC, go ahead and post them now so when I do the recap tonight you won't have to re-encode it later.

If it's not one thing, its another ... so I'm preparing to start on Ep I and SubRip refuses to rip the alien-only track, claiming on each of the subtitle images that each one is skipped because it's too small / too short. I set the program to skip only those below 0 ms, so the durations shouldn't be too short.

Anybody have an idea about this? Or does anybody have a direct subtitle rip of this stream in .srt or .txt format?

You might want to e-mail Magnolia and ask him for the subs.

If any of you have the ability to create a crawl, I'm interested in creating a new Episode name and crawl for each of my planned re-edits of Ep I and II. They're not as drastic as the cool stuff MF did, but basically I'm restoring all of the deleted scenes, then pulling back all of the stuff I find gut-wrenchingly bad, without resorting to creating new dialog. I'm going to try, if possible, to preserve the notion that Queens aren't elected and rule for life, like they do in our understanding of the English language. Thus, a rewrite of the crawls is a little necessary too.

I've completed the extended cut of TPM, reinserting all of the deleted scenes but deleting nothing. Straightforward extended cut. I'm planning to make that available too.
